Amanda Trumpower writes for Jesus lovers who dig dragons, detectives, and droids. She’s a twin mom, second-generation homeschooler, D&D enthusiast, and board game fanatic.

Amanda lives in Ohio with her husband and two Chaos Monsters, also known as to

This guest post was written by Christian middle grade author J. J. Johnson. It appeared first in his Substack.

Last week, we explored middle grade horror—not the kind that aims to traumatize, but the kind that trains kids to be brave. The kind that tells them: you can be scared and still keep walking.

This week, let’s look at a genre that’s often mo

Agatha Christie
“As a matter of fact it wouldn’t be safe to tell any man the truth about his wife! Funnily enough, I’d trust most women with the truth about their husbands. Women can accept the fact that a man is a rotter, a swindler, a drug taker, a confirmed liar, and a general swine, without batting an eyelash, and without its impairing their affection for the brute in the least. Women are wonderful realists.”
Agatha Christie, Murder in Mesopotamia

Agatha Christie
“It is a curious thought, but it is only when you see people looking ridiculous that you realize just how much you love them. ”
Agatha Christie, Agatha Christie: An Autobiography

Agatha Christie
“I like living. I have sometimes been wildly, despairingly, acutely miserable, racked with sorrow; but through it all I still know quite certainly that just to be alive is a grand thing.”
Agatha Christie

Agatha Christie
“A mother's love for her child is like nothing else in the world. It knows no law, no pity. It dares all things and crushes down remorselessly all that stands in its path.

“Poirot," I said. "I have been thinking."
"An admirable exercise my friend. Continue it.”
