David Lassman was born in Bath, England, and is a scriptwriter, author, journalist and lecturer.

He began his writing career in regional newspapers and magazines, before completing a script-writing degree at Bournemouth University.

David is a former director of Bath's International Jane Austen Festival and was Press & PR Manager for the Jane Austen Centre in the city until 2017.

He is the co-author of the Bath-based series of Regency Detective novels, with fellow author Terence James. The latest in the series 'The Circle of Sappho' was published in May 2016.

David also writes non-fiction, and these include 'The Art of Self-Publicity' and 'Frome In The Great War'. His latest book, published in February 2018 by Pen & Sword True Crime, is 'The ...more

The Avon Street District - a less charming prospect

The city of Bath is designated a World Heritage Site and it is not hard, as one walks its streets and takes in the architectural splendour of its Palladian buildings, to see why. Yet alongside these iconic structures, there existed at one time another area, one less salubrious and downright dangerous. And if you truly want to know the city’s history, you have to learn a little about that aspect.
