I live in South Africa with my three feathered owners. I love all animals and most people. I like to read literary fiction, sci-fi/fantasy, and humour most of all, but I've fallen in love with books from most genres at one time or another. I write non-fiction, sci-fi/fantasy and mainstream fiction. ...more

I think that when you love anything it will come out at some point. Writing happens to writers, I think, without them having to be persuaded much. A spark of an idea will appear and then the story will out when it comes to fiction. My non-fiction writing stems from my desire to help, one way or another. I love research, which is a bonus when you write in any genre.(less)

I find that if I work on something different for a while, the reason for the original block will appear and I'll be able to carry on with my original manuscript.(less)

Don’t Eat the Frog First

I’ve had a clear out of old half-finished stories, and deleted a pile of “things to get to” that have been lurking on my computer for years and intimidating me. I’ve also put a rather large and almost complete personal project to the side for now. I’ve been slogging away every day at finishing it […]

“Dare to Be

When a new day begins, dare to smile gratefully.

When there is darkness, dare to be the first to shine a light.

When there is injustice, dare to be the first to condemn it.

When something seems difficult, dare to do it anyway.

When life seems to beat you down, dare to fight back.

When there seems to be no hope, dare to find some.

When you’re feeling tired, dare to keep going.

When times are tough, dare to be tougher.

When love hurts you, dare to love again.

When someone is hurting, dare to help them heal.

When another is lost, dare to help them find the way.

When a friend falls, dare to be the first to extend a hand.

When you cross paths with another, dare to make them smile.

When you feel great, dare to help someone else feel great too.

When the day has ended, dare to feel as you’ve done your best.

Dare to be the best you can –

At all times, Dare to be!”
