Lena Hampton Thanks to shows like Sesame Street and Electric Company (I'm showing my age with that one) and books like the Sweet Pickles series, I learned to read …moreThanks to shows like Sesame Street and Electric Company (I'm showing my age with that one) and books like the Sweet Pickles series, I learned to read at an early age. During summer breaks as a child, I would spend the entire day at the library because it was near my mother's work. Reading those stories lead me to create my own with my Barbie dolls. Eventually, I began to write those stories down. In high school, I read Pride and Prejudice and Dust Tracks on a Road (Zora Neale Hurston's autobiography) which further fueled my desire to write.(less)
