It involves a shop owner in modern London who falls through his basement floor and discovers things from over a thousand years ago. His desire to keep his find a secret ends up in deceit, murder and an astonishing revelation about a mythical king and queen.(less)

I love London, especially the old "City of London" which is the financial district and the oldest part of town. It dates back to the time of Christ. Every time someone begins to erect a new building the bulldozers find evidence of the Britons, or the Saxons, or the Romans. There are antiquities everywhere.
In my latest work a bookseller falls through his basement floor into an ancient crypt and discovers some amazing things about an ancient legend. A king and queen who were long presumed mythical suddenly may have lived after all. Murder, intrigue, deception . . . everything comes into play as people will do anything to possess the fame and fortune surrounding the discoveries.
Most of my ideas come like this - they involve something I've done, or something I read or even a story a friend might tell me. Ideas for books are everywhere. You just need to watch for them.(less)

Haunted Louisiana trip

Forgotten Men

As part of research for my next book, the third in The Bayou Hauntings series, I took a trip to Cajun country last week. I visited ten plantations and spent the night at a wonderful place called The Myrtles in St. Francisville, Louisiana. (St. Francisville is such a neat town that I've decided it's the setting for a creepy mansion in the next book!)

Built in 1796, the Myrtles is known Read more of this blog post »

“The Qumran sect of Essenes spent their days copying the Holy books onto scrolls, their particular goal being to ensure no man or popular religion of the day would or could usurp the very words of God as handed down to His prophet Moses.  They accomplished this goal by copying ancient, crumbling texts onto modern parchment, sealing the finished works into earthen jars, and hiding them in nearby caves. ”
Bill Thompson, The Bethlehem Scroll

“Have no fear of them for nothing is covered that will not be revealed, or hidden that will not be known.”   Matthew 10:26”
Bill Thompson, The Strangest Thing

“time was short – the metro system had to be completed so the government was not willing to allow years to do an archaeological dig as it should be done. One thing led to another and, as happens so often, time constraints caused priceless artifacts to be removed from the places they had lain for centuries, ending up in the hands of a collector willing to pay a staggering sum to own them.”
Bill Thompson, Ancient: A Search for the Lost City of the Mayas
