Flash of Fear

I haven't written a post in a while. It took me way longer to write Flash of Fear than I had intended, but in the end I think it is one of my favorites. Admittedly, writing Lethal Betrayal wasn't fun for me and I needed to take a bit of a break. Not to mention I have a full time job and a family that needs attention.

I hope it won't take as long to write the next one. Title is pending, but the plot is ready. I think you will fall in love with Enzo and Kennedy. The opening scene in this book is one I have thought about for a long time.

I hope I can do it justice. There will be some fun in this next one, but it will be suspense all the way through. And maybe, after this one, I will work on that paranormal my sister has been asking me to finish.

It is more YA, so definitely a bit different than this series, but it is half way done.

Missing the Stars

I am editing book three. It isn't set in Darkness Falls, but you will see a character from Darkness Falls in Missing the Stars. Cole goes home to help his brother out, but will he end up helping himself? This book is set in Chandler County which is a fictitious world designed by a bunch of great authors. Missing the Stars is just one of the stories of Chandler County. I consider this book a novella, mainly because it is a bit shorter than In the Night and Breaking Shadows.

Look for the release day at the end of June! After edits I will be back in the world I created. Which is Darkness Falls and book three is all about Harrison and Taylor. Their story comes to me in flashes, which is perfect considering the working title. I think it will be a return to the darkness of In the Night, maybe on a smaller scale though. Taylor has been looking for the right person to help her move out of the darkness and into the light. Harrison is the perfect guy for the job!

Look for Cole to make an appearance in this book as well. I love to have my characters come back and share themselves with you again.

Breaking Shadows and a Huge Thank You

In case you missed it, Breaking Shadows is now available. I am still working on getting both books on iBooks. But they are on other vendor sites.

I wanted to take time to thank my three amazing readers, they are thanked in my Acknowledgements, but I feel like there are never enough thank you opportunities in a world that seems a little off it's axis these days. So, why not thank them again?

Sue, Jody and Joy - you ladies make writing fun. I never thought I would get published or finish a book for that matter. Now that I have two books published I might be willing to call myself an author. Anyway, along with my editors, you three make my books better. It is hard when you are in the moment of writing the book over the course of months to catch all the little nuances that a reader who is inhaling the book can catch them! Thank you for being amazing supportive readers.

I find myself wondering if I should see if I can find that long ago written book from my High School English class and see how terrible it is? Maybe with a rewrite it could be something worth reading. Or it could just be fun to see how far my writing has come. Hopefully.

One final note; the biggest compliment a reader can give is to tell all their friends they loved a book or to leave a review. I consider myself a book pusher and I am constantly telling people to read a book I love. My favorite authors get a lot of good press from me! Some writers are talented enough to throw a story together in a few weeks. Other authors take months to get a story to paper. And every single one of us appreciate every single one of our readers. Even if they didn't necessarily love the story, we appreciate you, as a reader, taking the time to read it at all. Our stories are a labor of love and our first loves, our families, are patient while we obsess over getting the story just right on paper.

I love my family and I love my readers!

Let it Snow and Other Exciting News

I finished Ethan and Quinn's story on Monday, time for the read through to fine tooth it. We have a major snow storm going and I just want to sit home under a warm blanket, read and drink hot chocolate!

I don't have a lot of time for reading these days, which makes me sad, but with working full time, three kids, writing a second book and the holidays it is really hard to find time to read. I compensate by reading audiobooks. I love to listen on my way to work and back and I usually try to pick books I normally wouldn't find time to read, i.e. really long books, blockbusters or something new to me. At first I was all about picking out classics, but then I discovered I don't really enjoy them. I'm not ashamed to say I love PNR, Romantic Suspense, Fantasy, YA and Thrillers. I'm going to give a few that I adored and welcome any suggestions!

Harry Potter on audiobook was phenomenal. I fought reading Harry Potter, not my thing, or so I thought! I fell in love with his story.

Fallen/Hush Hush/Red Rising/A Court of Thorns and Roses were all phenomenal as well. I do struggle when a there is a narrator switch in between and A Court of Thorns and Roses did have a new narrator in book three, but I still loved the book.

I have also listened to numerous thrillers. I even listened to the first Miss Pelegrine and the library loan ended with nine minutes left! It was a long wait to get that one back and really drove me a bit crazy, since I want to finish with the audiobook and not go get the book for nine minutes, lol! The third book in Red Rising the last disc wouldn't work and that was horrible! I eventually signed up for Audible to get to listen to it.

What are some your favorites?

Happy Holiday Exciting News

The Holidays are upon us. I have been working on my second book and hope to have it out in January. This is Ethan and Quinn's story. Their story literally took on a life of their own and I am excited to share it.

Learning the ropes of self-publishing has been an interesting experience and there are so many authors out there willing to lend a supporting hand. I'm going to plug a few of my favorites, in case you are looking for a stocking stuffer or two.

Abbie Roads writes paranormal romance. She is a newer author on the scene and has three amazing books under her belt. The first book I read by her I could barely put down. Look her up for your PNR friends!

Karen Rose is an exceptionally talented author when it comes to police procedural and romantic suspense. Whenever someone asks me a good author in this genre she is the one that comes to mind.

A few honorable mentions, in a wide variety of genres:
Samantha Lee - PNR
Bree Kraemer - Contemporary Romance
Phoebe Alexander - Erotica, Bisexual
K.L. Montgomery - Romantic Comedy
Samantha A. Cole - Military, Suspense

These are just a handful of the talent out there! Stay tuned and I will share other amazing authors.

Happy New Year!
