בכיתה ג׳ כשהחריפו כאבי הגרון של ניסים אמא שלו אמרה שהדלקות האלה בשקדים עושות אותו חלש וילד חולני, ונסעה איתו בוקר אחד לעיר המחוז רחובות לרופא מומחה של ״אף אוזן וגרון״. הרופא הזה, הסביר לי ניסים, בודק רק אפים אוזניים וגרונות של אנשים ולא שום דבר אחר.

הם נסעו במונית עם עוד כמה אנשים עד רחובות אבל בדרך הרגיש ניסים רע ורצה להקיא.
