I am a Los Angeles native with a PhD in history from King's College London (2017) specializing in pirates and public executions. I have written two books about pirates:

- Why We Love Pirates: The Hunt for Captain Kidd and How He Changed Piracy Forever
and

- Pirate Queens: The Lives of Anne Bonny and Mary Read (published under a different name)

My third book, The Pirates' Code: Laws and Life on the Pirate Ship will be out in 2023. I am currently gearing up to finish my pirate novel during NaNoWriMo (2022).

When I'm not writing you can find me reading in coffee shops, teaching history, singing, seeing friends and family, playing with my dog (Pippin), and off on an adventure somewhere. ...more
