I have scenes in my head that play similar to film. I write out key plot points and scene ideas on sticky notes, in notebooks, and I have files on my computer. Notes everywhere! As for the writing process, I will write out one scene, and from there the story tells itself until I arrive at the next point. It's very much like connecting the dots. I don't fully know what all will happen in a story. My characters often tell me at the last minute as I write how they feel or what they do. The story then pieces itself together. I always know the beginning and end before I start, which I think is the most important part. If I struggle, I try to get down the bare bones of the story within a chapter. I call those "skeleton" chapters. I will later go back during editing and add meat to the bones such as more scene descriptions or bits of information here and there that I may have left out. Once it's complete, I send some copies to some others to edit while I edit it myself many, many times. Having the Grammarly app on my word documents really helps a lot. I highly recommend it.(less)
