Josef Nesvadba (19 June 1926 – 26 April 2005) was a Czech writer, best known in the English-speaking world for his science fiction short stories, many of which have appeared in English translation.

Maturoval v roce 1945 na pražském gymnáziu, v roce 1950 promoval na lékařské fakultě v Praze z oboru psychiatrie. V letech 1950–52 pracoval v nemocnici v Teplicích, pak působil jako vojenský lékař u letectva a v Armádním uměleckém souboru. Od roku 1956 se věnoval individuální, a zejména skupinové psychoterapii na psychiatrickém oddělení fakultní polikliniky v Praze, od r. 1967 jako samostatně pracující lékař. Lékařskou praxi vykonával do r. 1990. Podnikl též řadu cest po světě (Vietnam, USA, Čína), které měly vliv na jeho tvorbu. Je pokládán za je
