After working half her adult life as an American Sign Language interpreter, and then a few more years in the medical field, Jeanie Martin has finally found her calling.

Writing is her passion, and she treasures the paths her research takes her. Currently, she has followed that passion to her Irish roots, and is avidly absorbing as much of their language, culture, history and music as she can. Taking outstanding classes in these subjects from CKonLine is helping to feed the fire.

Besides learning about Irish history, Jeanie reads. A lot. Janet Evanovich, Dean Koontz, Tom Clancy, Karen Marie Moning…the list is endless. She'll read almost any genre…the only one she stays away from is horror. (She admits this is due to wanting to sleep at night).

Daydreaming helps me to create scenes which play out in my mind. If I'm really stuck on a spot, or if I'm just not feeling that normal compulsion to write, I have an alternate universe in my head where I can go and create stuff.

It gets the creative juices flowing, and then when I sit back at the computer, I'm ready to go.

But sometimes, the most effective step is just to write. Start typing, and see what comes out. Some of my most memorable (to me) scenes have been created that way.(less)

Umm, being able to stay in my pajamas all day? :)

It's having a skill that I can use which entertains people, maybe gives them a laugh, or causes them to shed a tear. Having an effect on anyone like that is humbling and empowering all at once.

Skydiving, Ryan Kelly, Steven Wright, and hugs.

Lately, it seems my Facebook and Twitter feeds have been chock full of inspirational sayings, and many of them do exactly that they’re supposed to. But I have questions. For example:

Mistakes are proof that you are trying. But Yoda said,  “Do or do not…there is no try.” And he’s the smartest Jedi master and puppet I know.  And Steven Wright said, “If at first you don’t succeed, then skydiving defin
