It has been a bit of a stressful day at work. I was just in one of those bad moods, you know what I mean, when everything seems to lie on your shoulders and adds to the mood. At least it’s the weekend now so I can relax and get ready for next week.
I have a lot to do in the garden planting wise. My seedlings are ready to go out into the tubs. The weather isn’t to be too bad so I’ll get that started after I paint the hut. I did the garden fence last weekend with the help of my son. It’s looking as good as new now. I also fixed my side gate, they were a little worse for wear after the winter but a few screws and some small bracing bits of wood at the corners sorted it out. Of course I fixed it before painting it some the repairs aren’t noticeable.
My peas that I planted out the other week are doing well though I did lose two to birds strangely. They broke the stems maybe getting a bus or something that had crawled onto them early in the morning during the week. The rest are fine though and growing quickly but it will be a couple of months before I think about getting canes to tie them up. I haven’t grown peas since I was a kid, a long time ago.
I’m going to take time out of thinking about my next story and have a weekend playing Civ5. I think after today I need the de-stressing effect of conquering the world. Let my megalomaniac side loose for a night and make the world seem better. Sounds good.

Another weekend of great rugby to look forward to. Scotland will be at home to Wales and I’m hoping my country can continue the streak of wins that it has managed to rack up over the last two games. It will be a tough match I’m guessing so I’ll keep my fingers crossed for Scotland. France will be hoping for a win against Ireland as they have yet to win a game in this years Six Nations. If they fail it would be a huge deal to them after getting to the final of the World Cup last year. England play Italy on Sunday. I expect them to win so placing them in prime position to win the championship as well as the Grand Slam if the can win their final game a week later. I think their hopes are high for this year. As I said a great weekend of sport ahead.
I started another Civ V last week which I shall play this weekend after the rugby. I had a notion to play last Saturday but had to first re-download it from Steam as my installation had vanished from my system. I don’t know how as I ran a virus check just in case on finding it missing but it turned up nothing. So one of those mysteries that there is no answer to. In the end nothing was lost in real terms other than the time to re-install the game and the Steam engine.

I ended up downloading the original settlers then found I had a copy of it on my computer. I got a little upset with the online version after seeing some bugs. Yes I did the old forum rant and got the usual response to such things. The fan boys jumped to the defence of their game suggesting that I didn't know how to do the simplest of things. I did answer at first but when I saw that those slamming me weren't reading me as clearly as I thought I had explained the bug I gave up. That led me to play the original game a re-learn those nasty dos commands. In the end though I ended up playing for a few days then turning to the modern online version as it was easier. I have just slowly learned to work around some of the things I see as flawed. One is when a work yard complete making something but can't find the materials to make more the game doesn't register the new product going into the storehouse. For instance I watched my iron smith making swords but when he deliver the goods to the store I still had the same number as before he did so as there was no iron for him to restock his workshop. I spent fifteen minutes watching as I had noticed that my manufacturing was slower than it should. The easy work around is to build up resources by switching on and off the work yards and never let them run out of their base materials. In some ways it is easier to use the dos commands to play the old original game but the online version does have its merits or should I just say it has an addictive qualities. This problem is made worse by the fact that the game continues to run even when you aren't logged into it. Each day I play I have to go through all my yards, mines, farms and wells to rebuild fields that run out as well as wells. Mines collapse if they run out and so you have to send out a geologist to find new deposits. Still it is these things that annoy yet keep us wanting beat it. If we can.
