1st June 2012

I’m on holiday until Wednesday because of the Queen’s jubilee. Sixty years on the throne is quite an achievement. Though I’m not a royalist I wouldn’t say I was against them either. At times I would even say I was for them especially Princess Anne as she supports the Scottish rugby side. As you can tell from that statement I do love watching my national side and it is great for us to have a royal sponsor. Regardless of how I feel toward the royals it does mean I have five days off, which is great.
Mind my daughter Tammy has already decided that we need a family day out, though I’m not sure if Calum wants to go. Where are we going for the day out depends on the weather of course. It looks like it is to be good so that will mean the beach but if it isn’t then it will be off to Glasgow. As you can guess I’m routing for the beach, after all it is less expensive as Glasgow will be shopping. With the holiday weekend the city will also be crowded which isn’t a pleasant thought fighting through the crowds while trying to hold onto those precious pennies. Of course it will still cost me at the beach as the slot machines will be calling after spending time on the sand, hehehe.
On Sunday I’ll need to get the grass cut as well as the hedges seen to. With the rain this week after all the great week or two has caused it to shoot up. At the same time it has also aided my plants. My strawberries are now in full bloom with some fruit beginning to form. Unfortunately my coriander has suffered from a bird attack. I’ve put more seed into the tub but it will be a couple of weeks I suspect before I see if they will come to anything as they were gathered from last years plants.
Thanks to the Queen I will still have a couple of days left for some gaming and to spend a little time working on some of my poems. Over the past two weeks I have worked on one which I’m still just not happy with but do think I might have the answer for it now. I also have been haunted by one rather disturbing on which I finally put to paper so to speak yesterday. It will also need editing to get it out of my head and allow me some peace of mind. Strange how some poems or stories do that to you. You can’t ignore them as they have a tendency to force themselves into the front of your mind strangling all other thoughts. In the end it is better to get them exorcised so you are free of them.

21st September 2012

I’m glad it’s the weekend. I did a couple of hour’s overtime yesterday. Though it was only two hours it felt longer. It is amazing how much two hours can leave you tired the following day. The extra money will be handy next week. Magz can put it towards some Christmas shopping. Yes we are starting to think about the season of good will even though autumn has barely shown its colour on the trees so far. It is heading towards the end of September though and before you know it the family celebration season will be here. So it is good to start getting things ready or get some of the smaller things in. Well it is something she enjoys, shopping that is.
I need to cut my grass again. Even though it has been cooler over the past week, especially at night, it has jumped up. Hopefully it will be the last cut of the year but somehow I doubt it. It will also give me the chance for a general tidy up. It can be a right pain the amount of wind tossed rubbish ends up finding its way into a garden. There are also more berries to pick and my apples to check for the hundredth time this week. That pie has been taunting me as I watch the apples filling out. What can I say?

9th August 2013

The grass at the front needs another cut. I noticed it yesterday as I came home from work. I was surprised with how quick it has grown in over a week but I shouldn't have been with the sun shining most of this week and some light rain over the nights. Nothing like that to help the grass grow as well as the weeds, hehehe. Which is something else for me to do this weekend. I did enjoy some of the fruits of my labours last weekend. Magz made up the peas, carrots, and peppers that I pick for Sunday dinner. She made them with a honey and butter coating which added a wonderful sweetness to them. As you can tell they were a delight to eat. There might be more peas this weekend, yum.
Work as expected has been hard this week. As you know I was the one working late to cover the retorts. It was made all the more frustrating as the head supervisor likes to push production to the limit. It wasn't so bad a t the start of the week as we were still using the back-up boiler but on Wednesday the main one was back up and running. That seemed to put the wee man, as the head is known, into overdrive. I should be grateful that the large boiler was up and running or I could have been working till a lot later than I did. In the end it wasn't as bad as the mood I seemed to find myself merited. Yes I was a moody so and so it goes with the pressure I felt under.
Well this week is over now so I have some time to lose in Skyrim again.

4th October 2013

I was off of work on Monday. I woke up in the night feeling like I'd been run over by a bus or two. I had a chill in my back that felt as if some one had replaced my left kidney with a block of ice. Adding to this was an excruciating cramping pain running down my leg. I sat a hot water bottle against my back to chase the chill off after sleeping most of the day away. Though I was still rough on Tuesday though I went into work but as the week has went on the pain in my leg seems to have gotten worse. At the moment I have resorted to Mondays remedy to chase the chill which seems to have returned though I'm glad to say without the tiring effect of earlier in the week. I'll continue with the water bottle over the weekend with the hope of finally ridding myself of symptoms. If not then it may mean a trip to the docs which as you can guess is something I'd rather avoid. As you can tell I don't like the doctors, hehehe. Maybe some light stretching exercise may help. Anything is worth a try after all.
Not all the coriander seeds have gone so with some luck. My tatties were looking a little scragglier than I expected last weekend so I'll see how they look tomorrow. The sweet corn was under attack from the snails so I put down some more pellets. And the Brussels got thinned out as well as any caterpillars I could find removed. Yes last weekend was a busy time in the garden. I even cut the front grass though I don't think it is for the last time this year. No it hasn't been cold enough to stunt the grass growing sadly. Still it is best to enjoy the chance to get out into the garden while we can. After all we'll all be moaning come the winter and looking forward to next years gardening. So the circle goes, hehehe.

16th August 2014

My miners have been mining for a week now and I have earned less than I was hoping. That is mainly due to the fact that it is costing more on electric than I had expected. To cover the cost I sold 0.1 btc which I will need to earn each week to keep my miners running. It takes at present difficulty about four to five days to earn this depending on the luck of the pool. Of course that is me paying for almost all the electric consumed by the house. This will continue until I earn less then I will give Magz the proceeds of 0.1 every two weeks. That is roughly what the real cost of running the miners is. What all this means is it will take a long time to achieve my ROI but I should still make it back eventually and with a small profit.
It is raining again so I decide just to stay indoors. I did want to check on the garden but not in the rain. Last Sunday I got the grass cut Front and back. It grows so fast with all the rain then the sun feeding it. It is sometimes hard to keep up with. Still what can you do other than keep on top of it. I started picking the blueberries last week. I notice a couple were ripe and as I look out the window I can see more. Of course there still aren't enough for a pie yet. There will be over the next few weeks. I can also see my cooking apple tree is suffering from the weight of fruit on its branches. Hopefully we will have drier weather tomorrow or I will need to face the drops of moisture so I can check on everything. Aye well skin is water resistant after all or so I've been told.

18th October 2014

The cold I have had is still not full gone though I ain't suffering as much as I was earlier in the week. Yes the first half of the week saw me grumpy as I dealt with the choked up feeling that goes around as the cooler months close in. It didn't stop me from seeing to the grass but I still have some things to do out in the garden. Yeah I did use the cold as a bit of an excuse to not do everything I had been planning. I think we all do that from time to time.
Elite Dangerous has had a very steep learning curve. I did the first of the tutorials but found that they were very good a teaching you. They would be greatly improved with a voice over telling you which buttons you need to press and when. Yeah more of a walkthrough than they are at the moment. Of course that may come as time goes by as we are still in the beta phase of the game with a long way to go before we reach the polished game that will be the release model. Anyways it took me until Wednesday to get to grips with the game. I think the hardest aspect was Super Cruise mode, it allows you quickly to fly through a solar system, or rather exiting it. Of course my son wasn't pleased with all the moaning I did as I vented my frustration of the games mechanics. I so wish it had auto-pilot it would have been so simpler. I think that is another thing that will come later in the development but I did miss it when I started playing. Saying that though I am no enjoying the game much more now though there are one or two small niggles. One of them is finding your docking bay on some stations is not as easy as I would like. Especially if it is a station where the landing pads are on the exterior of the station. The first time I tried landing on one of these I ended up in a panic as my time counted down, you have ten minutes to land, and I couldn't find the pad. Yeah why panic I hear you say. Well it does draw you in, well it does to me. Another niggle is that I have been fine twice as I entered a station. I slow right down so I can get my bearing to the landing pad I have been assigned. Sadly the game see this as me loitering at the entrance sometimes and fines me. Luckily they are too large so easily paid. In general I am enjoying the game and look forward to more content later this month. That will come in the form of being able to mine asteroids just as I remember in Frontier. Until then I still have some exploring to do in my Eagle.
