28th December 2012

I hope you all had a good Christmas. Calum was working for half of Christmas day but was home in time for dinner. Magz made the steak pie which we have every year. Now that the kids are older there isn’t the early morning wake up. Followed by the rush to see what Santa brought. Now everyone opens their presents when they get up. I had my breakfast before I tore the wrapping paper from mine. New slippers led the line up of jeans, tea-shirt, socks, and a jumper. Calum also got me Skyrim the follow on from Oblivion which I still have to play the add-on. As you can guess I haven’t started playing the new game. I will eventually though it will be next year.
Of course that isn’t that far away. I’m working on Monday though I will be off Tuesday and Wednesday as I was this week. That means that I will have those days to recover from any ill effects of drink. That isn’t really likely though as I am not much of a drinker and Magz and myself usually only have a small vodka for the bells. I know boring. The days of finding a party then getting totally wasted is long gone. I still like to see the bells with a glass just to see the old year out while welcoming the new. Even if it is quietly.

19th July 2013

Magz has made strawberry jam but there are still loads of strawberries left. I'm not sure what else she has planned though I'm sure she'll think of something. I can always take some into work for the lads, it's a given that they would enjoy them, hehehe.
I have even had a good crop of lettuce which has been filling my work sandwiches all week. There is still plenty filling out after we thinned them out. My potatoes are finally coming up after replanting. As you know the first attempt this year failed badly. Now the summer has finally truly arrived my plants are doing well.
It is good to have the sun after the long winter that we had though some are already moaning about the heat. Not me though all I wish was that I had the time to enjoy the great weather. Money needs to be earned though so it was back to work this week. Not the most comfortable of weeks though slaving away next to the retorts. They do give off a lot of heat as well as the steam makes it very humid. As you can imagine it quickly becomes very sticky once the retorts are all up cooking the cans away.
I started playing Skyrim last weekend, finally. It isn't to bad, very similar to the previous game Oblivion though I don't think it is as good. The graphics are better but I don't feel the story line is quite as engaging. Maybe that is just me. Anyways it is still a good game for wasting an hour or two.

26th July 2013

Finally it's the weekend again. This week has seen some long days at work. I had to work on to look after the retort. On Wednesday and Thursday that meant almost three hours unpaid overtime. I'll get the hours back though that might be harder than it sounds. Today wasn't as bad only an hour roughly more onto the day but it is good to finally see this week out. The reason for all the extra work is because the main boiler is being repaired so we are working off of the smaller back up boiler. Unfortunately that is not really up to the job. It can take about an hour to get the retorts up to full pressure where it usually only take about twenty minutes at most normally. As you can tell that will add a lot of time to the process over the full day. Jim the other retort operator worked on last week and at the start of this week so it was about time I took a turn and things look set for more next week for both of us as it might be the end of the week before the work is complete. It wouldn't be so bad if it were a little cooler or at least a breath of air, sadly no.
I still haven't had a chance to try Magz's jam though I'm sure to get some on toast this weekend which I'm really looking forwards to. I will also be out into the garden to feed my plants and see how they are doing. I haven't had much time for the garden during the week though I'm sure the rain we had has helped my plants. I did notice last week that my peas are growing pods. I was tempted to pick some for Sunday dinner but left them for the peas later on. It was good to see how well everything is doing. There should also be some time for a bit of Skyrim, hehehe.

2nd August 2013

I didn't find the time to play Skyrim last weekend. Hopefully this weekend I will. A good dragon slaying will ease my mind as next week is going to be a hard one. That is what comes with working the retort as it is my turn to cover them when everyone heads for home. Sadly the main boiler is still not up and running yet. With any luck it will be back up next week though I'm not sure if that will be the case or not. I keep my fingers crossed.
My hedges are needing a trim at the back. Magz cut the ones at the front and round the side but she finds it hard doing the back ones as they are a lot taller. She also cut the grass which I was supposed to do last weekend. Laziness set in and I just didn't have the energy last Saturday and Sunday I used the showers as an excuse. I know naughty me. I think we all get like that some times. As long as we quickly give ourselves a kick to get moving again it isn't a bad thing, is it? I just wish I could as easily get back into writing but for the past month or two I seem to find I can't get into the right frame of mind. It is like life has taken over and I am left devoid of any creativity. That is when I'm at home in front of my computer. At work filling the baskets I crowd the boredom out by daydreaming. Usually about winning the lotto or something along those lines. Maybe that is what is draining me of the muse though it does get me through the day. The price of having to work to pay the debt-man which is something we all know to much of.
Well at least I will have some garden time and Skyrim this weekend.

9th August 2013

The grass at the front needs another cut. I noticed it yesterday as I came home from work. I was surprised with how quick it has grown in over a week but I shouldn't have been with the sun shining most of this week and some light rain over the nights. Nothing like that to help the grass grow as well as the weeds, hehehe. Which is something else for me to do this weekend. I did enjoy some of the fruits of my labours last weekend. Magz made up the peas, carrots, and peppers that I pick for Sunday dinner. She made them with a honey and butter coating which added a wonderful sweetness to them. As you can tell they were a delight to eat. There might be more peas this weekend, yum.
Work as expected has been hard this week. As you know I was the one working late to cover the retorts. It was made all the more frustrating as the head supervisor likes to push production to the limit. It wasn't so bad a t the start of the week as we were still using the back-up boiler but on Wednesday the main one was back up and running. That seemed to put the wee man, as the head is known, into overdrive. I should be grateful that the large boiler was up and running or I could have been working till a lot later than I did. In the end it wasn't as bad as the mood I seemed to find myself merited. Yes I was a moody so and so it goes with the pressure I felt under.
Well this week is over now so I have some time to lose in Skyrim again.

18th October 2013

It has been a very lazy holiday for me over the past week. Now it is coming to an end I look back over the week and see how little I have done. Yes the gardening season is over other than the picking of the remainder of the blueberries. There are still more to be gathered so Magz will have enough to bake another pie with.
Every night has seen me playing Skyrim. I am at the end of the main quest of dealing with the dragon threat to the land of Skyrim which I had put of till I felt I was strong enough to deal with the final big boss. Sadly I don't feel ready yet to go for the final battle. To build character up more I have taken to minor quest and just generally exploring more of the countryside that the game is set. Yeah that is usual for RPG's which is mainly the sort of thing I have already been doing but with so much in this game it has been a struggle to become powerful enough to feel secure in how far I have come to take on that last dragon.
Gaming has meant a lot of late nights which isn't good. Next week I will certainly feel when I have to get up early again for work. Maybe I should have an early night or two before Monday morning. Of course That is unlikely to happen as the game has that grip on me that makes it hard not to play. Though next week will mean that it will be back to Saturday gaming only. Well I might as well enjoy the time I have left of my break from work, hehehe.

9th March 2014

Another week and I am late posting. Why? Simply I was watching the rugby yesterday and by the time it was finished with Scotland getting beat I just wanted to lose myself, which I did in Skyrim. As you can guess we lost. It was a good game though and for some of the game we even led. It just wasn't to be though. The French are never an easy side to get a victory against even when they aren't playing at their best as was their performance yesterday. Still it was a good game as was the Italy v Ireland. Though the Irish did dominate the game Italy still put up a good fight of it. Today we have another classic game to look forwards to, England against the Welsh.
Work continues to be stressful. Mainly as the supervisor in labeling isn't good at dealing with the pressures of the job. When the labeling machine acts up, as it does a lot, he starts shouting and blaming anyone standing close. That is usually me as he has me working to put the cans down the labeler. He is of the mind that someone has to blame and acts as if everyone has it in for him. We don't but that makes no difference when he seems so convinced of it. Even when we go on our breaks he is certain somebody has messed with the machine settings when we come back. The labeler is old, being built in the nineteen-sixties, so is an old lady that has her turns. Still with some patience she can have her good days. I'm sure the supervisor understands this but just can't seem to use it to control his temper. I sorely wish he could as it would make work-life far less wearing.

17th October 2015

We made it through to the quarter finals in the rugby. It was a hard fought second half last week but we managed to take the win. Tomorrow we face Australia which I doubt if we will beat them though you never know. As long as it is a good game and no-one is hurt.
Magz has finally decide that we are decorating the living room. She had most of the stuff in but picked up a couple of rolls of wall paper for a feature wall. The gloss paint has left me feeling tired. I've never liked it and always seem to get migraines. Leaving the window open does help a little. This week though has been a touch too cold to leave them open as it gets dark. Not quite the icicles hanging from the nose but close. Winter is truly on the way.
I have been playing Skyrim this week. I was halfway through playing a new game when Elite Dangerous was purchased last year for me by my son. Anyways I reverted back to that even though the problems with ED have been sorted. I had been meaning to get back to Skyrim so it was good to do so. I have the dragon in Dragon's Reach in game when I left it though I wasn't ready to finish the game as there were a few things still to do. I also wanted to level up a good bit which I have been able to do this week. I will play for another week or so before going back to ED to complete the journey I am on.
Still looking for work. I'm applying but not getting much in the way of replies. That though isn't unusual though. Hoping to get something soon though it is hard as the weeks keeping growing and still nothing in the pipeline. I just have to keep telling myself soon.

7th November 2015

Another week of fruitless job search. Though no problems with websites slowing me down. Still each week going by without any sign of work does weigh me down as it would most of us. The home decorating of the living-room is complete and we are slowly getting things back into their rightful place. Now that Magz has one room done she is already in planning for the hall. The colour she has in mind is Coco Mint. Yeah it is a nice colour but can't we wait till after Xmass. Yeah as I have said before I hate decorating. Unfortunately for me I can't afford to have someone else do it for me and Magz isn't up to the fumes. Mind it rarely stops her. She doesn't listen to us when we tell her off either. What can you do?
In ED I am almost to the human bubble. Jumping and honking has seen me racing towards home. I was surprised by how quickly I have crossed the stars. If all goes well I should be back by early next week. After that I have a Skyrim game to finish. An easy way to forget for a bit about my jobless situation. I still have Witcher 3 to restart at some point as well though I'm not really in a rush for that one after my first encounter playing it. I know that was more down to me not being in the right frame for it at that time. So I will need to play it again but when I am in the proper mood for it and I will need to take my time with it. Of course though I have to get my ship in ED to safe anchorage first.
