I’m on holiday from work for a week with no plans other than lazing around. After this week I’m glad to be off as it was a right pain this week. You know how it goes as the graft strains your back and others seem to bug your brain. I know that it was just me being tired but it doesn’t stop you feeling down. Anyway I can put it to the side now and replenish my energies. A bit of gaming or writing will help along with some nice lie-ins.
It’s strange how work has that effect though. When you’re unemployed you can’t wait to get a job. Yet when you are working for a bit it starts to drain you. Maybe that has something to do with very few of us having that dream job. You know the one we all wish we had. The one where you’re the boss running that little business you always wanted to but never had the money to do it or the know how to get it. Though would it remain the dream if we were to find the way to attain it? How long before it became just like any other job? I’m sure that a few lean years would soon make it like that. After all that is the main reason most of us do work after all, for the money.
I know that is the simple reply but it doesn’t make it any less true. For if we didn’t get paid we wouldn’t do the job would we? I know I wouldn’t as I need to provide for my family. So that is my main motivation to work but it isn’t the only one.
Having spent much of my earlier years stuck on the unemployment lines I’m glad to be working. It is good to get up in the morning and have something to contribute to the family through a days graft. But it is also good to have a break now and then to spend some time with the family we work so hard for.

I’m on holiday until Wednesday because of the Queen’s jubilee. Sixty years on the throne is quite an achievement. Though I’m not a royalist I wouldn’t say I was against them either. At times I would even say I was for them especially Princess Anne as she supports the Scottish rugby side. As you can tell from that statement I do love watching my national side and it is great for us to have a royal sponsor. Regardless of how I feel toward the royals it does mean I have five days off, which is great.
Mind my daughter Tammy has already decided that we need a family day out, though I’m not sure if Calum wants to go. Where are we going for the day out depends on the weather of course. It looks like it is to be good so that will mean the beach but if it isn’t then it will be off to Glasgow. As you can guess I’m routing for the beach, after all it is less expensive as Glasgow will be shopping. With the holiday weekend the city will also be crowded which isn’t a pleasant thought fighting through the crowds while trying to hold onto those precious pennies. Of course it will still cost me at the beach as the slot machines will be calling after spending time on the sand, hehehe.
On Sunday I’ll need to get the grass cut as well as the hedges seen to. With the rain this week after all the great week or two has caused it to shoot up. At the same time it has also aided my plants. My strawberries are now in full bloom with some fruit beginning to form. Unfortunately my coriander has suffered from a bird attack. I’ve put more seed into the tub but it will be a couple of weeks I suspect before I see if they will come to anything as they were gathered from last years plants.
Thanks to the Queen I will still have a couple of days left for some gaming and to spend a little time working on some of my poems. Over the past two weeks I have worked on one which I’m still just not happy with but do think I might have the answer for it now. I also have been haunted by one rather disturbing on which I finally put to paper so to speak yesterday. It will also need editing to get it out of my head and allow me some peace of mind. Strange how some poems or stories do that to you. You can’t ignore them as they have a tendency to force themselves into the front of your mind strangling all other thoughts. In the end it is better to get them exorcised so you are free of them.

I’m on holiday fro the Easter break. A week off to enjoy. During the week I plan to write a short story which I only came up with this week while at work. Sorry but I can’t really tell you much about the project at the moment though I may post it on Goodreads or Authonomy once I complete it. Like always when you have an idea I’m filled with the excitement that you get from it. That strange rush which makes it seem like it is the best thing ever. Of course I know that everyone who create think this way. Now I have to put the idea into words and hope I do justice to the crystallizing tale in my head.
With winter still holding the land to ransom the gardening season is still to start. I was hoping to get started planting the veg for this year but it isn’t warm enough to begin that. I will be going to the garden centre next week to make plans on what to grow this year. Any plants that I get will need to be kept indoors for now though till spring truly arrives. Sadly there is little sign of that yet. Very frustrating with the sun shining brightly today.
I order a new graphic card using Bitcoins, a crypto currency which you mine using your computer. I’ve been doing this for about the past year and a half. Over the past couple of weeks though the price that they are worth has shot up this led me to decide to spend some to beef up my computer. For this reason I ordered a Radeon HD7970 from Bitcoinstore.com. After a slight delay I got an email today confirming that it has finally been sent and a tracking number. I have also been looking at a new laptop for Magz but will wait till I receive my graphics card first or the price of the coins go up before committing to getting the one I was looking at for her. Of course the price of the coins may go down as such things can do. Still Magz does need a new computer as hers is beginning to creak at the seams. I did say to her when I began mining that I would spend some of the proceeds on a new one for her so it seems like I finally might just manage that goal.

It has been good to get a week off of work, though it hasn’t all been easy sailing. I tried to sell some of my Bitcoins through Mt Gox, an online exchange for that currency, which didn’t go to plan. The company in question is based in Japan so I needed to send the money that I raised from the sale via International Bank Transfer. I got all the information from my bank but the transfer failed and Mt Gox has been fairly unhelpful. In the end it was easier to put the cash back into Bitcoins. Sadly this meant that because of the increasing price for this crypto currency I have fewer coins.
Why sell? I hear you ask. Well I found out that ordering goods from the US will mean I have to pay an import tax. This is around twenty percent of the value. It was for this reason I thought of trying to save a few pennies by getting my coins turned into cash and buying locally. This would also mean getting items quicker. Sadly I will now be forced to continue with using the US retailers to get my goods. There is a real opportunity for someone in the UK with the finance to make a killing. There is also a gap in the UK market for retailers to take advantage of. Bitcoins has seen some growth over the past few years as well as soared in price in the past three or four months. I wish I had the financial ability to take advantage of this situation.
I have been tracking my new graphics card as it wings its way to me. At the moment it has just cleared customs so I will get a card through the door any day. I also got a start on the story I told you about last week but sadly didn’t manage to finish it yet. Too many distractions. One positive was the visit to the garden centre. I got some new containers fro my bushes. They were in much need of replanting which they now have been. I also planted out the corn, onions and potatoes for this year. There is still more to be planted but Magz has her tomato plants and they are now in the propagator to protect them from the frosty nights. Yes the frost is still with us though spring is finally in the air. It has been a long winter.

It has been a very lazy holiday for me over the past week. Now it is coming to an end I look back over the week and see how little I have done. Yes the gardening season is over other than the picking of the remainder of the blueberries. There are still more to be gathered so Magz will have enough to bake another pie with.
Every night has seen me playing Skyrim. I am at the end of the main quest of dealing with the dragon threat to the land of Skyrim which I had put of till I felt I was strong enough to deal with the final big boss. Sadly I don't feel ready yet to go for the final battle. To build character up more I have taken to minor quest and just generally exploring more of the countryside that the game is set. Yeah that is usual for RPG's which is mainly the sort of thing I have already been doing but with so much in this game it has been a struggle to become powerful enough to feel secure in how far I have come to take on that last dragon.
Gaming has meant a lot of late nights which isn't good. Next week I will certainly feel when I have to get up early again for work. Maybe I should have an early night or two before Monday morning. Of course That is unlikely to happen as the game has that grip on me that makes it hard not to play. Though next week will mean that it will be back to Saturday gaming only. Well I might as well enjoy the time I have left of my break from work, hehehe.

The weather has been great this week so I have spent, as you can imagine, in the garden. Mostly just checking on my plants and pulling up any weeds trying to get a start in my tubs. Of course every day there are more to be found hiding. They seem to come up quicker than the seeds I have planted. My potatoes are growing, as are one of my peas. With time the others should catch up soon. No sign of the carrots though and I have to give the seeds I planted last week some time. Unlike the tomatoes that are doing well since being put out on Sunday along with the courgette. Sadly the lettuce that I got this week isn't doing as well. The tub I put them into got a little to water logged. I have since put extra holes in the base which has helped but I will have to give the lettuce time to see if they will make it. My fault for not paying attention when I was planting them into the tub. I should have noticed that the soil was a little too damp. I'm sure that they should survive now so no real harm done. I can't even say why I didn't take note as to how waterlogged the container was when planting. It wasn't until a day or two later that I became aware to the lettuce looking a bit limp. It was only then that I really checked how wet the soil was and became alarmed. As I said though they should make it to plate by the summer. That is what it is all about after all.
Sadly my holiday is fast coming to an end. Yes it is back to the soul consuming job next week which leaves little time to enjoy the garden. Still we have to make our living some way, right? And at least I have a job. It may be draining but it is better than nothing. And it does allow me to afford to buy the plants that I fuss over so much, hehehe.

I was planning on getting this post done yesterday morning as I had to go to my friend Mickey's wedding. Like many plans it went wrong. Computer problems plagued my morning which I in the end had to leave till this morning to finally fix. As you can tell it is finally running but it did throw all of my plans for the weekend out of the window. I was hoping to have another crack at the jally which will now need to wait till next weekend. Luckily I will be on holiday for two weeks after this week, so I'll have plenty of time. My garden is also needing seen to but sadly has been neglected this weekend. I can see from my window that there are strawberries waiting to be picked. Surprisingly Magz hasn't been out to get them yet. Maybe she was just leaving it for me to get the first of the season. I can also see that my war on the weeds is being lost this week though that is just temporary. Yes I will get them back on the retreat over my holiday but for this week I will just have to deal with the sight of them till I get the time.
As for Mickey's wedding. Well what can I say it was a great day out. As well as it being a good night out. Yes we were at the whole ceremony, dinner, and reception. I think you have all been to at least one yourselves so you know what they are like. Full of emotion as you watch the bride come down the aisle. Mickey was almost in tears from the joy he felt. And as they both said their vows to one another again you could hear the feelings they felt for each other. Yeah we had a great day as a family and I had maybe a little much in the alcohol stakes though I wasn't drunk, just very close.
