My post

Beautiful People,
This UNCLE SAM ON IMMIGRATION cartoon by Paul Szep was posted on April, 2006 but sadly, it is still relevant today. The immigration bill is stuck in congress and our broken immigration system delays prosperity and weakens the American economy.

I look at Szep’s cartoon and ask: America, what are you thinking?

Our broken immigration system almost invites illegal immigrants to enter the United States and use every service that is funded by the taxpayer. At the same time, it limits high-skilled worker visa although the income taxes that they’ll pay could probably cover the expenses incur by illegal immigrants who enter this country daily and don’t pay taxes.

On top of that fiasco, non-immigrants who studied and trained in America are being sent back to their countries, although they are much needed in the American industry.

Fixing the broken immigration system is difficult, greatly because the chasm between the congress’ aisles is wider than ever, and the next administration must find a way of bridging it.

Therefore, my ideal presidential candidate is someone with résumé that includes proven ability to form alliances, and working successfully with polarized groups. The ideal candidate should be able to reach consensus and achieve unity by applying collaboration.

A candidate like that would be able to fix so much more than a broken immigration system.

XO,
Sharon
