10/22/20 - Feathers of Shardaa

Feathers of Shardaa (Xeno Tryst Duology, #2) by Troy D. Wymer

Welcome to the WymerNovels blog. Today, I will be discussing my sixth book, Feathers of Shardaa.

Feathers of Shardaa
is a novel length book with 91,458 words and is the second book in the Xeno Tryst Duology.

Feathers of Shardaa
is the epic conclusion and book two of the Xeno Tryst Duology. Xeno Tryst ended on a cliffhanger...and for good reason. I had much more story to tell. So many questions needed to be answered and mysteries needed to be solved. My goal was to have the sequel to Xeno Tryst be at least the same length of approximately 75,000 words, but it surpassed the length of the first book and finished at over 91,000 words. The structure was again plotter-style. I began writing the story in April 2020 and finished exactly six months later in October 2020. The erotic space opera novel is intended for adult audiences only and has about the same amount of explicit sex scenes as the first book. The erotica in this duology is secondary to the overall story arc. The sequel certainly has much darker undertones. Throughout Feathers of Shardaa, I have strived to evoke emotion, leave no loose ends, include previous characters, develop rich new characters and conflicts, have detailed world building, and a fascinating story arc on a galactic scale.

Feathers of Shardaa is the epic conclusion of the Xeno Tryst Duology... A much darker theme, the backstory of the Shardaa Sector is revealed. Sierra Shalinsky is persuaded to advocate for the Humolfans and their repatriation back into galactic society. Through a series of dramatic events, Sierra falls in love.

One thousand years earlier... Siiteper Affelum begins a genocide campaign to eliminate interspecies families. The Humolfan “half-breeds” are banished to the Shardaa Sector and left to die, until they receive help from an unlikely source.

Present time... Sierra Shalinsky has been missing for seven months. She wakes up from a coma in the mysterious Shardaa Sector and flees her captors.

The history of the Humolfan people is revealed to Sierra. She is persuaded to advocate for them and their repatriation back into galactic society.

After receiving a feathers of Shardaa tattoo, Sierra is brutally assaulted by the Dissident Faction, but is rescued by a mysterious man. Through a series of dramatic events, she falls in love with her alluring rescuer.

Sierra is finally found in the Shardaa Sector by a Syrenthian Government fleet when they prepare for battle against an unknown aggressor. She explains her disappearance. Sierra then speaks at the Humolfan Repatriation Conference to advocate for the Humolfans. She reunites with her bandmates, her parents, her friends, and her co-workers.

In a surprising, personal discovery, Sierra realizes that her usual promiscuity is no longer satisfying. She attributes this profound change to the new and unexpected romance that develops.

At the end of Feathers of Shardaa, there are appendices that include a Syrenthian Galaxy map and a terminology index of all terms that were created for the story and what chapter they first appear in.

The book cover depicts Sierra Shalinsky featuring the blue dress she wore during her engagement, which took place on Shardia. The cover also includes the planet Shardia and its moon Sharsia.
