is it just me or are there very few great horror writers left.
I am a huge fan of the works of James Herbert, but I have found that there few other writers of his caliber. Some Kings works are ok, but I found his books can be overly long, and with disappointing endings. Though I should point out I loved Salms Lot, and his short story One for the Road. Dose anyone else find the horror genre lacking of late.

Have you read any anthologies or magazines? I'm finding there's a lot of good short horror fiction right now - though right now, I'm reading the "classics" like The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde.

In fact its often those smaller works that often leave you wanting more. Which is never a bad thing lol, The classic still often remain in a league of there own when it come to atmosphere. M R James, Lovercraft, are masters when it comes to horror.

Another is really good, as is Ghost Hunt - particularly the Blood Stained Labyrinth arc. Uzumaki by Junji Ito is also a mind twist.
