The need to belong

blows steadily against our sails.

Carving through the water,

our little vessels of longing

wax and wane with tide and moon.

There are handprints

pressed against our shoulders

guiding us back to our motherlands,

stolen pieces of bodies

skimmed across the oceans

by ancestors passed

who wish for us to seek

for them by

following that feeling

of home.
