1/15/22 - Roedie Cantin

Welcome to the WymerNovels blog. Today, I will begin a blog series about the main characters in each of my books. Be warned that this blog post has spoilers. I will start with Roedie Cantin. He is the main character of Lightyears. Although Roedie does share the spotlight with his younger brother, Baas, I consider him the main character because he is present in all three books of the Lightyears Trilogy.

You first meet the blond-haired Roedie at the age of 17. He lives with his father and brother at house number 74, just outside the town of Kanthas on the desert planet Kaskoon. He is close to his brother, Baas. When they were younger, their mom died from the Tabaannaann Plague after it was accidentally released from a canister at the Academy of Sciences in Astossky. Roedie actually attended that same academy to study electronics.

When their father, Olosssky, is taken prisoner by two enforcement agent investigators, their lives are changed forever. They purchase a ship named Zoota 2000 and begin a quest to find their father. During their journey, Roedie finds the love of his life. Tereena is an unexpected surprise for sure.

One major event in Roedie’s life is when he joins the Claderane Resistance and becomes commander of the Galactic Explorer. He is key in defeating the BlueMar Empire’s main realm on Andron. Although I only mention the event in the story, Roedie is married to Tereena at a double wedding with his brother, Baas, and Sepheena. Two years later, Roedie—along with the rest of his family—is sent on a mission to explore uncharted regions of the BlueMar Galaxy. He ends up traveling through time to the Regulominuss Galaxy. It is there that he is involved in yet another war with the Rexxian Empire. On the return flight home to their own galaxy, Roedie and Tereena experience the birth of their daughter, Phasheena. Roedie is assigned one final mission to save the galaxy and has the task of disassembling a powerful bomb called Xalgoma Stride. The end of the book sees Roedie traveling into the future with Tereena.

Although Roedie is not exactly the main character in Lightyears II: Intragalactic Terrorism, he still plays an important role. He enjoys traveling to future time frames with Tereena. They meet their great great grandson, Destin. Providing vital support to the Civil Resistance, Roedie helps to restore freedom to a galaxy full of terrorist organizations and the evil descendants of Baas’s lineage and their Immortal Cantin Empire. Roedie becomes the consort to Queen Tereena of the Obritess Government.

In Lightyears III: Ominous Intervention, Roedie, again, is not exactly the main character, but is still important to the story. We find that Roedie—at the age of 71—writes a book called Adventures of Baas and Roedie, which are actually chapters six through thirteen of the first Lightyears book. Roedie meets with the three leaders of the Regulominuss Galaxy to help form the Yiblos Treaty. Toward the end of book three, we find that it is the wishes of Roedie and Queen Tereena to be buried on the planet Siitap where they first met.

As you can see, we follow Roedie from when he is 17 until he is 71 on adventures that take him through space and time.
