The story behind the Jett Landry Saga is that there is an authoritarian movement in Texas that mirrors a global authoritarian movement that Jett's dad, private detective Markus Jackson, was working to uncover and expose. This sets the stage for the story of Jett's struggle to make things right (trying to avoid spoilers) and the parallel story of her friends, who create a movement to restore freedom to the people of Texas. "Freedom Texas Y'all" becomes a popular refrain on social media and on a viral podcast that unites people in the struggle against the authoritarian government and their abusis. It makes for a good story, but there are real-life struggles for freedom all over the world.

Because there is an ongoing humanitarian disaster going on in Ukraine due to Russia's indiscriminate bombing of Ukrainian cities, I have decided to donate half of what I make on this book series to the Odessa Foundation in Odessa, Ukraine through the GlobalGiving organization. The Odessa Foundation provides food, shelter, medicine, clothes as well as psychological support for families living in war zones.
