My first blog post

I've never done a blog before, but I will try one here. It seems like this will work better than sending around notices for online publications as an "event." Cuz a blog entry or interview isn't actually an event!

I'll start with a link of my essay about science fiction and our daughters that I sent around a few days ago. I wrote it for the online Fantasy Book Cafe, and excellent source of book online discussions.

Welcome to my blog, and I hope you enjoy reading!

Catherine Asaro Hmm ... not sure this is working. The photo didn't show under the blog. And I can't figure out how to edit the blog entry.

Does anyone here know how to fix either of this things? Thanks for any help you can give.

Lara Thank you for the link to your article. I too was a big fan of science fiction growing up.

Thanks, N. I tried putting the full address in, but that didn't work either. It needs a photo rather than a url, I think, but I'm not sure how to give it that.

Jeremy Griffith Good article, Cat! My father was into SF, and I got into it as a kid in the early Fifties. By the Seventies, I was real dissatisfied by the same stereotyping and cardboard characters that put you off. But there were some authors who were OK... the women. And I noticed one man, just one, who wrote as well as the women, Samuel "Chip" Delaney. Of the 3500 SF/F books in my library, 95% are by women. (Most of the other 5% were purchased by my wife.)

Sometimes people ask why I "restrict" myself? I answer that I can't even keep up with everything the women write, why would I want to waste time with a poorer alternative? ;-)

Catherine Asaro I remember reading Dalghren in college. I was blown away! I had never read anything like it before. My brother sent it to me for my birthday.

I enjoy reading both male and female authors. SF has become so diverse now! The genre is thriving and expanding.

Thanks for the comments!

Catherine Asaro Yah! I figured out how to get the photos to show. I add them to my Goodreads photo archive, go to the photos, click on photos, and THEN clock on "largest image." The web address for largest image is the one that works in the html for the blog post.

Feelin' pleased :-).
