2024
2024
2024 has ended, and here is a snapshot of my year in reading.
This year is a little different that others. Usually I do try to only read one book by an author a year. So the author does not become “stale.” However, this year a book club I’m in read the first volume of Something is Killing the Children and I enjoyed it that I read the rest of the (published) series. Similarly I started the Rivers of London series. This one I’ve been taking a little slower, one book every month or so. I did start this out of order, but now I’m following the reading order. That’s why you’ll see Tales from the Folly: A Rivers of London Short Story Collection hanging aroiund in my Currently reading bucket on Goodreads and Storygraph.
My yearly goal was 208 books for the year, a little more than 4 books a week.
I did pass this with 363 books read. Goodreads shows 359 and Storygraph a little less than that. I’m very bad at creating books that do not exist (yet) in either system.
This year I only read 2 books that I crowdfunded.
I did read 24 books by authors from other countries and a good number of autobiographies, biographies and memoirs.
Here’s the breakdown:
To give a further breakdown here is the Genres chart from Storygraph. Yes it is heavy in Science Fiction, I am in 5 SF/F/H book clubs, so that tends to skew the numbers.
