TAROT OF THE MONTH
September arrives at the hinge of the year. In the Northern Hemisphere, the Autumn Equinox lands on Monday, 22 September 2025, at 19:19 in London, the exact moment when light and dark balance for a breath before the long descent.
“The Forgotten”, by Roman Dubina. This image accompanies my favourite September musical ambience. This festival is a harvest thanksgiving and a ritual of equilibrium: give thanks, set things down, and redistribute what has been gathered so that nothing precious spoils in the cellar of the soul. It is the season’s pivot, and it invites a pivot in us. Note that the popular phrase “equal day and night” is approximate rather than literal, because of atmospheric refraction and the apparent size of the Sun, but the symbolism is the point. The scales are level. We are asked to stand in the middle and feel what that means.

This is reflected by the card of the month: 2 of Swords, Peace, attributed to the first Decan of Libra.
In the Thoth Tarot, Peace is not the peace of sleep; it is the bright, tensile calm that comes when two sharp minds cross perfectly and neither cuts. Crowley gives this small card the title Peace and places it in Chokmah of the Swords, under the Moon in Libra in the first decan of that sign. Libra’s airy poise and the Moon’s softening rhythm produce a lucid stillness. The picture Lady Harris painted shows two blades arranged in symmetrical opposition, their tension stabilised by a delicate blue rose at the centre, emblem of a reconciled intelligence.
