A Lens, A Keyboard, and a Dream: I’m Officially Published on Amazon 🎉

Hi, I’m Kirk Voclain, I write books. I’m also a South Louisiana photographer turned novelist. For more than forty years I’ve lived behind a lens, chasing light, telling stories in a single frame. Now I’m telling stories a different way: with chapters, characters, and the occasional chase scene down a moody European alley. And as of today… I’m officially published on Amazon.

My camera is thrilled for me. And my keyboard is jealous. But my coffee just wants credit.

Two books. Two shelves. Same promise: a clean, fast, satisfying read.Double Exposure (Thriller/Espionage)

A photographer’s camera opens doors a badge can’t. A routine job in Vienna turns into a setup—and the man behind the lens has to expose the frame before it buries him. Real tradecraft, clean language, high velocity.

👉 Buy on Amazon (choose Kindle, Paperback, or Hardcover): Double Exposure Boots and Stilettos (Contemporary Western Romance)

An Italian heiress trades marble floors for Montana dust. A quiet rancher trusts the land more than words. Grit meets grace, cultures collide, and love has to prove it can do the hard work.

Why a photographer writes thrillers (and romances)

Photographers get access. We drift past lines when others wait. Also we talk to security. And we talk to staff. We’re invisible… until we’re not. That little truth powers my thriller Double Exposure. The lens is a key; light is a map; reflection is a warning.

And on the other end of the shelf, Boots and Stilettos is about character and place—how two people with different worlds can build one life. The eye I trained for portraits (patience, detail, empathy) helps on the romance side just as much as it helps with chase scenes.

Double ExposureAmazonBoots and StilettosAmazonAbout me (the short version)

I’m a novelist and long-time professional photographer based in Houma, Louisiana. I’ve spent decades photographing high school seniors, real estate, and commercial work—and teaching other photographers how to master both craft and business. I write clean, fast, focused stories that respect your time and reward your attention. If a lens can find the truth, a lie can’t hide for long.

Reviews: tiny, honest, and wildly helpful

If you read one of my books and it connects with you, two honest lines on Amazon or Goodreads help more than you’d think. Reviews signal to new readers that the story is worth a try. They also help Amazon’s and Goodreads’ recommendation engines do their thing. You don’t need to write an essay—just what grabbed you (the camera tradecraft, the chase, the characters, the setting).

Getting from a blank page to a published book is equal parts joy, fear, editing, coffee, and stubbornness. If you’ve followed my photography, cheered from the sidelines, or just love stories that move—thank you. Your time is precious. I’ll do my best to earn every page you turn.

If you want updates, freebies, and first looks, hop on the list at kirkvoclain.com. And if you’re already reading—enjoy the ride. Click. Flash. Run.

Arnar Vik I like your sources of inspiration, Kirk. I'll get going on Double Exposure this weekend, when I'm off to my cabin for a few days. If I like it I'll recommend it and maybe write a review. It's important to spread the word to fellow lovers of a good Spy thriller:) Keep writing!

Kirk Voclain Arnar, you are too kind!! Love this! Cabin reading vibes are undefeated. Enjoy Double Exposure… settle in, trust no one, keep the lights on. If it clicks, a review helps a ton and gets the book in front of more thriller fans. Either way, thank you for spreading the word. When you get back, tell me your favorite scene. I’m always curious what sticks!
