Wednesday Reading

I finally got serious and finished LAND OF DREAMS by Gian Sardar. I didn’t hate it, but I really didn’t connect with the protagonist or the story in the way I’d hoped I would. I thought many of her choices didn’t jive with the way I was understanding her character, and the resolution was too weak for my taste. Those interested in the Old Hollywood structure of the studios over-controlling their stars’ lives, including their love lives, might have an entirely different reading experience.

I began the first book of three from my Barnes and Noble trip, THE SURROGATE MOTHER by Frieda McFadden and quickly realized I’d already listened to the audio version. And yes, I should have known, but I convinced myself the last surrogate book I’d listened to was written by another author because I’m talented at gaslighting myself :-) On the upside, I’ll give the book to my sister and/or daughter in law, so the book will be read! I’m going to start the second one on my small pile, another Freida McFadden book titled, DEAR DEBBIE. It’s new so I shouldn’t have already read or listened to it :-)

I have an audio book I was interested enough to buy a week or two ago, but haven’t wanted to start it yet. It’s a memoir by Brianna Madia titled NEVER LEAVE THE DOGS BEHIND. It’s about her post painful divorce when she buys a van and travels America. It’s a different book for me, but I like trying new things. Not so new that I’d actually buy a van become a nomad, but I’m happy to live the experience through a memoir, LOL. And let’s be real, I bought it because I totally connected with the title!

What are you reading and/or listening to?
