Weekend Roundup
It was such a great weekend. The baby shower for DIL was beautiful and my DIL shined. It was a lot of fun, and a reflection of how loved she is by a bunch of people who have been through this long journey with her and Youngest. We are all just so excited for this baby boy. He will bring as much joy and laughter as the other three grandchildren! And I have to give huge credit to DIL’s mom, sister and good friend who did a ton of work on the shower. To plan and prepare, we all met one day, did some work that day, then we divided up the rest to do on our own while keeping in contact. Everyone did their part and it all came together on Saturday. I love that!
Youngest ran all over on Satuday picking up last minute things and he did it all willingly. He wanted this moment for his wife as much as her mom, sister, me and her best friend did! He’s going to be a great dad and I’m so proud of him.
So Middle son came out with his wife and daughter a bit early so he could help Youngest provide some muscle. They moved the big stuff, and moved the pile of gifts that filled two SUVs. And the two boys helped me pick up the food. Youngest had brought his Subaru, which is a cool red car that’s loud and pretty fast. And as it happens, he bought it off his brother who was with him. These two pride themselves on their driving skills, much like their dad does. So once we had the food packed into the cars, youngest took off out of the parking lot, revving the engine. He’s so cute. Once I got out onto the road, I passed him before he realized I was there, and beat him back to the venue. It was hilarious.
Then Youngest told his dad on me…I cracked up when Wizard told me. Youngest and I were texting later, and he announced that he told on me. Yeah, that’ll teach me….
Boys are so much fun.
Also, while the boys and I were picking up food and doing last minute stuff, Middle DIL took Cigi over to see Wizard. He loved that! I wasn’t there, so Grandpa had her all to himself and had a great time. Later Wizard, Middle and Youngest hung out and swam until we needed their muscle again. And I got to see Cigi for three or four hours at the shower. I shared her with her aunts too
I have one more story that Oldest DIL told me. She picked up some manicotti from Sam’s Club for their oldest son, Turbo. And Turbo asked, “Did Grandma make that?” His mom said, “I bought it at Sam’s Club.” Turbo considered that and asked, “Did Grandma sell it to Sam’s Club?” I mean how cute is this kid? I think his reasoning is that he’s only had homemade manicotti from me, so I must make all the manicotti? I’m not sure, but I thought it was so sweet and funny!
How was your weekend?
