He loves us enough to cleanse us and transform us out of sin as we repent, but His love for us is not initiated by our repentance. He loved us before we were born. God loves the sinner but hates the sin.
Yeah I think that Christians should re-think that saying when they say that the Lord loves us just the way we are. If that was true and God loved us without giving His son for us I think I would have died a long time ago. . . sin can be a terrible thing.I love that you used scripture to back up the false statement and made told what the Lord really is about.
The Lord loves us and we are so grateful of His grace we do not deserve!
Mary Magdalene got a bad rap. Nowhere is her name mentioned in connection with the prostitute Jesus saved from the mob. The only thing we know for sure about her is that she was one of his followers and the things she did in that capacity.I pretty much agree with the rest of what you said. Love the sinner; hate the sin. Just as you love your children, but try to correct their errors in judgement and behavior.

8 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith —and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— 9 not by works, so that no one can boast. ~Ephesians 2:8-9
So while we may all make mistakes and God may know all about those mistakes ahead of time, it doesn't stop Him from hoping that we will call on the holy spirit to bring us through our trials...and even if we don't, he still loves us. Unconditionally. I agree He hates the sin...sin is probably very confusing to the all knowing. God is love. It's grace...doing something for someone else when you have absolutely no reason to do it.
