As I write, I envision certain actors in the parts to give voice to the dialogues. Bryant Mayne, Bry, or Bryyyyyant is one character that really IS a character. Designed after a Southern cousin alter ego I used to pull out at family dinners, and named after a very good friend from high school who still to this day is like family to me, Bry is bigger than life and voiced by many at different times in the story. Big shoes to fill, but filled they are by Ben Foster, Jeremy Renner, and Sean Patrick Flanery.  Bryant is the oldest of the troupe of Bounty Hunters led by Robert, and he has lived an interesting and varied life. This want-to-be actor has seen and experienced things that no other has, and has had to learn the hard way to cope with a strange and somewhat guilt-ridden psychosomatic affliction. He carries a heavy burden of his past with him at all times, shadowed by a deep-seated hateful passion for anyone who hurts those he loves, yet somehow still finds good in everyone. Even them there evil ones. In his youth, Bryant is Ben Foster…wide-eyed and full of adventure with a hint of pain and fear in his view of the world and the people around him like his character Spacker Dave in “The Punisher,” ready and willing to defend ‘family’ at all costs. Then, as he is grows and learns what it is to love, and to lose, (even if it is a Zombie) he is Jeremy Renner in “28 Weeks Later,” struggling to survive and keep two children alive in a world gone mad; willing to sacrifice himself if it means the world’s survival. And now, after becoming The Vox and learning who he really is deep down and coming to terms with his past, he is SeanPatrick Flanery as Jeremy ‘Powder’ Reed in “Powder.” Speaking softly, yet commanding attention; shaking up all those around him until they see truth without hearing it. Bryant has grown, and he and all those around him are better for it. Who will Bryant be, as he grows older? Time will tell me all I need to know. I am certain that you, the reader, saw someone else when you first read Bryant…I encourage you to share your “vision” here and why. I am always interested to hear what images my writing brings to mind in my readers.
