As I write, I envision certain actors in the parts to give voice to the dialogues. Corson Dante created a myriad of images, and the actors that could easily fill pieces of them. Corson is not just any villain. He is a lost lamb, psychotic child, a manipulated son, a power hungry, damaged fool, and a pawn. He is mad; about his mother and because of her. This part required someone with model-like features who could switch emotions in an instant, and wear them proudly with every part of his body and soul. This part requires Michael Fassbender. From being just one of the men from Easy Company in “Band of Brothers”, the manipulative Connor in “Fish Tank”, the violent and painted Burke in “Jonah Hex”, or the noble Stelios in “300”,  Fassbender has one common thread in all of his performances…he commands your attention.Without a word, his eyes grab you and speak the underlying dialogue of his scripted speech.  In “Hunger”, Fassbender portrays Irish Republican BobbySands. The movie re-tells the events leading up to and during the 1981 IRAHunger Strike in Maze Prison, of Northern Ireland. There, Bobby Sands lay near death and motionless in a bed. His vital organs all but shut down, his ability to speak, nil…yet, in Fassbender’s eyes there is still the relentless pride and lack of remorse for what has happened in the fight for his rights. He shows no mercy, no regret, even as his character dies a horrible death. He is without doubt, my Corson Dante. I am certain that you, the reader, saw someone else when you first read Corson…I encourage you to share your “vision” here and why. I am always interested to hear what images my writing brings to mind in my readers.
