LIFE IS NOT A BED OF ROSES (Part-2)

Play was about a young couple who were from different castes. They fell in love with each other. When they told about this (their love story) in their respective families, as expected their families rejected their proposals. When they forced their families, then they openly opposed them. After seeing this, and continuous failing in making their families accept them, they decided to suicide together. Suicide is only made for cowards. We generally say this. But what if people left you no option other than this? Then? Are you still coward or first they made you coward to do this coward thing. Or few of them can still sort out and can find solution else than suicide? Yes! There are few who can think beyond this and it was shown in the play.

Then, it was shown that what changed their plan of suicide. How they decided to remove this evil from society and how they made their parents accept them. At last, they lived happy life.

The message of play was that casteism is a vast social evil. So, we should jettison this from our society. The play was so fabulous that everyone adored it very much and there were tears of happiness in everyone’s eyes who were watching it.

Manpreet was in lead role in this play. He was perusing post-graduation in theatre from PANJAB University. Everyone liked his acting plentiful. He earned lot of appreciation for his acting. As the play touched the heart of thousands, Radhika lost her heart there. Yes! She lost it to Manpreet. She found him very cute and the type of guy she ever looked-for.

She was fair, tall about 5.5’ feet, healthy, beautiful having beautiful black eyes and long hairs. She was perfect in every aspect of beauty. She was perusing post-graduation in English from PANJAB University. She saw Manpreet few times earlier too in the university campus. She always wanted to talk to him but due to some reasons she always got failed to talk to him. Either she always found him busy with his friends or she found him busy in his rehearsals for play. She didn’t want to make a scene so she never approached him in front of other people. She used to visit theatre department just to have his one look. I should say he was like fantasy for her; she was waiting for one fortunate-enough-chance to talk to him.

But on the day of play, she had decided that whatever be the situation, she will definitely talk to him. So she could not stop herself anymore and directly went to back stage. She saw him there standing with few artists. She was staring him from a distance and was thinking to go and talk to him. But it was not that easy as it seemed. She stood there for a while. Suddenly, Manpreet noticed her looking at him. She waved her hand and said ‘Hi’. He couldn’t believe that some girl was herself approaching him and a moment ago she had said him ‘Hi’. So, he looked here and there to check if his eyes were not seeing any dream and luckily he found it reality. So, being confused he too waved his hand and said ‘Hello’. Then, seeing her facial expression, he found that she wanted to talk to him. So, he went to her leaving other artists there. He shook hand with her. She was feeling little bit shyness. Then, she said him ‘Your acting was fabulous. I liked it very much.’ ‘Thank you. I am glad to know this.’ He thanked her. He was confused and shocked as a very beautiful girl approached him and appreciated him. It was like dream to him. Even it is well known fact that appreciation is an artist’s drug… But if it comes from some beautiful girl then it is like icing on the cake.

“You are very talented stage artist. You can become good actor too.” She said.

“Thank you very much. It meant a lot to me, it will motivate me to work hard.” He said. She smiled over this.

“By the way, I am Radhika from English department.” She introduced herself.

“I am Manpreet from theatre department.” He said.

Radhika was about to say something to continue their conversation. Suddenly, someone called his name ‘Manpreet-Manpreet’. Both of them looked in the direction of voice. Radhika was all unknown to the source of voice while Manpreet judged it. Then he said ‘My coach is calling me, I have to go.’

Her face became dull. She wanted to talk to him. But he had to go. Even he too wanted to talk to her but he didn’t have time. So she let him go and asked him “Can we meet tomorrow?”

“Sure. At 5 p.m. in canteen.” He said. Actually he also got excited to meet her. Who don’t?? :P

“Ok” said she.

Then, he went away. She kept on looking at him until he became disappeared. She was happy as well as sad. She had mixed emotions. She was Happy because she was able to talk to him after wait of so many days. . She always wanted to talk to him. So, today, it was like her dream came true and sad because it was just an introduction. Then thinking that ‘Something is better than nothing’ she came back to her hostel.

She was different person now. An unknown smile could be seen adding beauty to her beautiful face. She was behaving differently now. She found life-less things lovable. She hugged her teddy bear and lost in her own world and kept thinking about Manpreet and about tomorrow’s plan of meeting with him. She dozed off thinking about him. Sometimes just an introduction with the right person in life mean a lot to us. How suddenly our nature and behavior changes if we are near to the moment of getting our dream true? Same was with Radhika.
