LIFE IS NOT A BED OF ROSES (PART-5)
In her family, everyone asked about her mood and she said “I am good, nothing happened”. Somehow she killed the remaining day time. She was very upset, disappointed and thwarted. She was broken and then it was night. She was lying on bed but sleep was nowhere in her eyes. Lot of questions made their home in her mind. She wasn’t sure whether she should wait for him or move on. A little thought for moving on came across her mind but she knew well that she can’t live without him. She was uninterruptedly thinking about time she spent with Manpreet, about their first meeting, about his proposal and about today’s meeting with him. But now everything was changed. How a single meeting could change everything? She thought everything was fine few hours back but now? Everything seemed against her.
Their whole story, from their very first meeting… back stage and last meeting today… was flashing in front of her eyes. Then suddenly a thought about the play ‘ZALIM ZAMANA’ came into her mind. She thought that they can also manage everything like the characters of that play did.
We do everything to save our love… because we know that great love comes in our life only once. So Radhika was doing same… trying to protect their story… their love story.
Then, she thought that Manpreet is such a wonderful person that he told her truth before anything could happen. She thought about reasons Manpreet gave her for he-could-not-marry-her. That were, one he was poor and second it would be an inter-caste marriage. Then she thought does money ever matter in case of love? No, never she self-answered. She thought they both can live well and earn well, if they work hard. She was always ready to give sacrifices and to do anything just to be with Manpreet. Second thing, about inter-caste marriage, she well knew that her parents would never agree for them. Then she thought does it ever matter what her parents will think about them? She didn’t ask them before starting this relationship. So, she would not ask them anything. She would not even consider their approval or disapproval. She decided to take this immense step of her life by her own and to fix court marriage with Manpreet.
So, she again communicated Manpreet and told him to come to meet her. He rejected, and then she said him to come to meet her just once MAY BE FOR THE LAST TIME. Later on, he agreed and again they met at same restaurant in Ludhiana.
She had already decided everything about what they would do and what steps they would follow to make their dream… a reality. She just needed Manpreet’s approval. So, she initiated talk and said ‘I thought a lot about what you told and I have decided that I just want to marry you.”
“What? Are you mad? Even after knowing all that?” he shouted.
“Yes, because I love you. Don’t you?” she said calmly. It seemed like she was clear with her views.
“Yes, I do but..!!” he was lacking words. He was wordless in front of her madness.
“Love is blind… But Lovers are not. So keep your eyes open.” That’s what Manpreet wanted to made her understand. But no!! She didn’t want to hear all this.
“What but? See, I don’t care whether you are poor or rich. Because even when first time I said you I love you, I didn’t know whether you are rich or poor. So, neither it mattered earlier nor now. Also, about inter-caste, I am sure that my parents will never accept us. So, I am ready to take any step.” She said.
“But i can’t put you in such worse conditions, please……?” He said.
May be Manpreet wanted to say her that it was not only love which was required to run the life’s circle… there were other things too. But no… according to her… Love was everything.
She put her hand on his lips and made quiet. Then, she told him about her plan of court marriage. With lot of discussion they both agreed.
Manpreet was not fully agreed but he knew well that if he would not agree for her plan she could take any wrong steps… she could even put her life in danger.
Radhika well knew that if she took such step of leaving home and running out with her boyfriend, she would never be able to come back. So, it was not only decision but a step for her whole future life.
