Running Toward a Goal
One year ago (December 1, 2009) I started running using the Couch to 5K program (also known as C25K). This is a free program that transforms you from a couch potato to a 5K runner in 9 weeks. You can

Using this program, I achieved my goals of running an average of 3 times per week and running in 3 formal 5Ks. Hurray for me! I am not fast, but that's quite alright.
And what has this got to do with tarot? Two things, really. First, I remember the first few weeks of running. It was pretty hard, probably the hardest part of the whole year. I remember focusing
on the elements and asking the Universe to help me. I honored Wands, thinking of my will power, which sometimes was the only thing that kept me putting one foot in front of the other. I celebrated
Cups through the blood flowing through my veins, supplying my poor muscles, so unused to such activity, with oxygen. Swords, of course, was the air that was so hard sometimes to take in, gasping and
huffing and puffing. At the worst times, I lost myself in visualizing and feeling the air flowing in, the air flowing out, smoothly, without gasping. It helped. Finally, Pentacles, the earth and the
physical world. My body, my feet meeting the earth over and over again, ...
