"Sri Lankan English Fiction" is a difficult category to define but let's keep it simple. It's Sri Lankan writing (novels and poetry)in English. Interpret this as you like.
I go by the framework that it is fiction written about Sri Lanka or Sri Lankans (wherever in the world), mostly by but not limited to Sri Lankans.
What that "Sri Lankan" means, well, your guess is good as mine. I avoided BEST because I'm trying to compile as comprehensive as possible list of Sri Lankan writing out there.
Why? I don't know. Possibly because, right now I am feeling rather homesick. And procrastinating.

I want to thank the person who created this. An excellent idea but I don't think "The English Patient" can be taken as a Sri Lankan fiction, "Anil's Ghost"- yes! Just because Ondaatje was born here, doesn't make everything he writes Sri Lankan Fiction.
I also appreciate the person who created this list. I like to follow the Gratiaen prize to keep up with good Sri Lankan books written in English. http://www.gratiaen.com/
If you don't know there's this new group for Sri Lankan readers. Check here and join: http://www.goodreads.com/group/show/6...
'Amulet' and 'The waiting earth' by Punyakante Wijenaike are my favourite books by a local author. Not listed on goodreads though.
"Sarasu...amidst slums of Terror" by Lucky DE Chickera is a fantaSTIC read. The book was shortlisted for the Gratiaen Award of 2011, and nominated for the State Literary Award for the same year.Check it out.

There are duplicates in this list. Contributors should check the list before they add to it. Also, if this list is supposed to be "Sri Lankan English FICTION", there are books that need to be removed.
I just read Island of a Thousand Mirrors and loved it. It should definitely be added to this excellent list. Thanks to whom ever created this list!
i need sri lankan english poems or short stories written on child labours. please if anyone kind enough to help me feel free to send a mail. nishist692@gmail.com
Two excellent novels by a National Literary Award-winning young author who has also won the Gratiaen Prize not listed above by Aditha Dissanayake - " Somewhere in the Green Hills" and "The Cloud" - deserves consideration for inclusion.
Capn wrote: "Dilly - could you add "Ceylon" to the search terms to catch older and historical novels? :)"Done.
