It all began when my cousins showed three-year-old me the movie Beetlejuice. Friends, I was much, much too young for that movie, and I have had a phobia of ghosts ever since. This gets in my way sometimes, because I enjoy horror novels, but ghost stories aren't the "fun" kind of scary for me--they're the "wake up screaming in the middle of the night" kind of scary, and that's no fun. Most horror books don't announce whether they have a ghost in them or not, however, so digging into horror can be a risky endeavor for me.

Thus, for my own reference and for anyone else with the same preferences, herein find a list of horror books that do not contain any ghosts, I promise.
