This List features books that have been turned into movies and are on IMDB's Top 250 List. The goal is to read the book and then see the movie. Enjoy!

I notice a bunch of books are beginning to show up that don't seem consistent with the IMDB list, though. What's to be done about those?
I'll get to it later this evening.
All of these do not appear on the above IMDB 250 list. Will do a little research to see if the films have different names from the books, and then I will start to delete.
Deleted for not being on IMDB 250 list
The Children of Men
Girl With a Pearl Earring
Pillars of the Earth
Rain Man
The Help
The Commitments
Secret Life of Bees
The Devil Wears Prada
Thorn Birds
In Her Shoes
King Lear = Ran by Kurosawa
84, Charing Cross Road
Cold Comfort Farm
Master and Commander
The Secret Garden
The Golden Compass
Our Mutual Friend
Oliver Twist
Joy Luck Club
Shogun
Love Story
Random Passage
Remains of the Day
Dune
Accidental Billionaires
Persuasion
Daring and Suffering

I started to add a book/movie combo and then realized that it wasn't on the imdb list. It should be, because some of the films on the list could go in my humble opinion! Glad I double-checked to avoid the axe!

Wow -- I don't even want to think about how long it took you to do this.
Some of the above have made a mysterious reappearance. They've swiftly been repurged. I think this is another list we'll occasionally have to keep an eye on to keep it within the stated parameters ...
ETA: What about Heart of Darkness and Persuasion -- to what movies on the IMDB 250 list do those correspond?
I was doing them a few at a time, I see you have continued, thank you. And I had only done page 1, so I will check page 2 (which have now moved up to page 1) as well.
Heart of Darkness=Apocalypse Now
Persuasion? don't know... will research
What about "Die Reise Nach Tilsit"?
ETA: I also removed a few that had -1 votes

Die Reise nach Tilsit was the basis of Sunrise: A Song of Two Humans.[hand =>> forehead on Heart of Darkness!]

ETA: What's currently on p.2 (and also the 1-vote additions towards the bottom of p.1) are all contributions of mine, which I verified before adding them!
Oh, and I'll take the liberty to re-add Shakespeare's King Lear, which is the basis of Kurosawa's Ran.
Oops...
[hand =>> forehead on Ran!]
forgot about that one!

Oh, but the connection is so much less obvious in Ran ... HoD really was a major senior moment! ;)

I've added the titles of the corresponding movies in the comments section of my votes where the connection is not well-known or obvious from the respective works' titles.

Or can we vote for the book even if we haven't seen the movie?
