Books, light novels, or web novels that feature stories where beings are reborn as another life-form, either by physically crossing over to a new state of existence or by having their soul permanently possess another. It is my understanding that Transmigration stories, unlike Reincarnation stories, almost always take place in a different world/Universe and do not necessarily involve death in order to transition the being to another state (unlike Reincarnation stories that almost always involve said being's death prior to the event).

Note that the 'new state of existence' is a general descriptor that could refer to anything from an Isekai (Transported to another World) story, to a tale of an ascension, or even to a new state of being (as a God, Overseer, etc.). Please also note that the soul transmigration only refers to a being's mind or soul being PERMANENTLY transferred over to another being, often when that target being dies in another world (classic Japanese/Chinese/Korean web novel genre). The protagonists' minds or souls may also be transferred over into a piece of technology or into an inanimate object, instead of possessing another living being.

For multiple connected books/stories, please either add the first of a series/collection of books OR (if it applies) only the book in said series/collection that heavily contains the elements of Transmigration.

~☆~Autumn I am not sure about My Name Is Memory. It is probably reincarnation. Good list!

From the synopsis found on Goodreads for that book, My Name is Memory sounds like a classic fiction featuring the reincarnation genre. It uses the common trope among reincarnation stories where a character has the ability to recall their previous lives.

~☆~Autumn He could remember everything but she forgot it all. I need to read My Name is Memory again sometime as I enjoyed it so much.
