We are coming up on the Year of the Dragon which should be an interesting year based on what I have read so far.

Just books that are actually entitled "Year of the Dragon," or other books relating to China and bearing the word "dragon" in the title as well? Or to the Chinese zodiac, for that matter (minus featuring "dragon" in the title)?

I was originally just thinking about the Year of the Dragon but then I added The Girl with the Dragon tattoo. There is another list for the Chinese zodiac which is very good. I am hoping to learn more about the upcoming year as it relates to being a dragon year. For instance yesterday I read on yahoo that Hong Kong will be flooded with women having babies. It did not say why so I am very curious. Years ago my sister told me that Chinese women get abortions of babies to be born in this year as they bring trouble to their families but that must not be true.

I think books about dragons would be good since that might give us insight into the Year of the Dragon.

It is a creature of myth, not (like the other signs of the Chinese zodiac) a real animal, and contains elements of all other animals/signs, so it is extremely powerful and versatile for that reason alone (on top of its mythical power and the sheer strength associated with it). So children, or at least boys, born in the year of the dragon are considered to be exceptionally lucky (both in themselves and for their parents) and powerful. Hence, one assumes, the projected birth rates!
Thanks for this info TA. I hope to learn more about this subject.
10 February 2024 is the start of the next Year of the Dragon - this time, the Wood Dragon. In that case, there's a great carved wooden box with dragon motif scene in Seaward I'd like to recommend. ;)
