hum .. only read one of these and I really didn't think the hero in Lord of Scoundrels was really a rake.
It can be roguish heroes, not necessarily womanizers, right. For instance Sheridan Drake in Seize the Fire by Laura Kinsale. Not really a rake but definitely a roguish type.
Late comment, but Michelle, if participating in orgies isn't rakish behavior, I'm not sure what else is.
Michelle wrote: "hum .. only read one of these and I really didn't think the hero in Lord of Scoundrels was really a rake."really? lol I disagree!! That was my favorite :)
I don't think Slightly Dangerous should be on this list. The hero is not a rake at all. He has had one lover in the last 10 years whom he grieves for
Aiashine wrote: "Im not suprised that Devil In Winter is the first. St.Vincent is lovely rake/hero"Agreed! I read the book three times and I can't get enough of it.
I feel like I'm just gradually reading this entire list! I love stories with rakes. Those are generally the only ones I read more than once.
Shylah wrote: " . . . I love stories with rakes. Those are generally the only ones I read more than once."Ah, me too. I can't get enough of rakes, rogues, alpha males . . . What I love the most about them is their cockiness, their I-am-impossible-to-resist-and-you-and-I-know-it attitude.
I've read these books so often that whenever i take it up to read again i can almost tell the stories word for word.......guess i'm an addict, just can't get enough...
OH MY GOD I have to say that I read a lot of these that are on this list (all the Julia Quinn, Lisa Kleypas, Sabrina Jeffries, and some others)! I loved ALL of them, so I'm gonna have to check out all the others! Definitely voting for this!
Edward from The Suffragette Scandal:"I have no moral sense to speak of, I lie, I cheat, I steal, and I'll probably drive you away screaming within the week. But if you marry me, I'll only do those things on your behalf."

It irked me enough to compel me to comment, though if it were an option, I would have simply upvoted your comment.
Wulfric is a great character, but not at all a rake or rogue. He sure got a lot of votes, though.
Hey hi! Alrighties i am just so desperate and i hope you can help me! I'm trying to find out the name of the historical romance book i stumbled upon years ago. The main heroine enters this dungeon and proposes a marriage or some sort of one night stand, i'm not sure... the man was about to be hanged anyway. Many years passes and she thought he was dead but she was suddenly shocked when he shows up in her front door steps very much alive.. that's all i remember about it! Thank you so much for anyone who thinks of something.
