Listopia > Best Fibromyalgia Books
As a person with fibromyalgia I know it is not easy to find a comprehensive book or a book with new information. So I wanted to compile a list of helpful books for myself and others with FMS or who have a loved one with it. Please add your own helpful books and vote for the ones that have helped you. Information is power.

It's not a symptom. It is a syndrome. It just happens that you were misdiagnosed.

Is it a syndrome? When I was on a fibro list they said it was a symptom of something else. I still get it now and again if I have a toxic chemical exposure. Guaifenesin helps me. I get the one from Pro-Health as its dye free.
My cousin was the same as she suffered with fibro for years and then it was sero-negative rheumatoid arthritis. It may take years for something to show up in the blood.
You are so right, I have I been mis-diagnosed and mis-diagnosed over and over.

I have severe fibro and I thought it was RA to begin with but I just call it PAIN. It's so hard to deal with the illness and its side effects but then also dealing with family, friends, and people in general...even doctors look down on you and treat you like you just want drugs...I just want it to stop.

Yes, FMS stands for Fibromyalgia syndrome. I've never heard of it being called a symptom of something else before -- as far as I know it is a stand-alone illness that can coincide with other maladies. Most of what I have learned about the illness came from both my doctor and the books that I added to this list, so please read up! :) These books really do help clarify what FMS is.
Why is it everytime people with fibromyalgia try to support one another someone has to make a comment trying to disprove fibromyalgia or make us feel like we have to defend ourselves? Why does it matter so much to these people? Do they have to fight everyday to get out of bed to breath through the pain? Do theyhave to watch thier life pass infront of them while they have to sit on the sidelines? Do they do this with other illnesses? I just cannot understand their reasons. Why even comment?

Why does it..."Odd how the original comment that sparked that discussion was deleted, and the second questioning comment (which I think was not meant to be hurtful, but which came from someone who just had no knowledge whatsoever) was made by a now deleted user. Hmm.
But yes, you're right, of course. There are always people lurking around trying to call all kinds of people out on things. "Fake disability!" "Fake Geek Girl!" "Fake girl! You're just a 8-year-old-boy!" I actually read something somewhere that said internet trolls who ADMIT to being trolls (i.e. do it for the fun) on average have tested to have extremely high narcissistic personality disorders and sadistic tendencies. So seriously, when you show people like that that they have hurt your feelings, they truly do enjoy it. I know, this just turned into a bit of a rant, but I'm feeling a little angry with the human race right now (just got off the phone with my internet service provider. *shudder*).
