From the first attempts to stray from socialist realism (spearheaded by Nichita Stănescu, soon to become a substantial neomodernist) to the cutting-edge poetry of the likes of Dimov, Mazilescu, M. Ivănescu or Vasile Vlad, the 1960s meant a lot to Romanian poetry. In a short period of time, poetry has managed to recover the distance between contemporary poets and interwar modernists (who were banned after 1948) and even make some first steps in the direction that will grow in the 1970s and especially the 1980s.
