I created this list for my Children's Literature course. We were asked to compile 10 books that would work together to teach children (preschool to kindergarten age or slightly older) one of the topics we were given to choose from. Topics were generated from kindergarten teachers' opinions on important ideas and concepts that are required to be taught within their curriculum. The topic I chose was Halloween, for it is my favorite holiday, and as I child I loved the goosebumps I'd get down my spine when we read a spooky book around the witching time. I wanted to include books that teach and deal with important concepts, but also stories that would inspire and sweep children up into the chilling and eerie mood of Halloween. List is ordered alphabetically by author's name. I hope you enjoy.
