Rainbowheart I'm confused about some of these additions. Who are the bi characters in Star Cursed, The God Box, Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe, Ash, and David Inside Out?? As far as I'm aware, all of those characters are straight-up gay.

message 2: by Jez (new)

Jez Ari in Aristotle and Dante is bi. He never labels himself (or is labelled by anyone else in the book) as straight or gay, but he is canonically attracted to men and women. He does (spoiler) end up with Dante at the end, but he spends a good portion of the middle of the book attracted to and thinking about a woman.

As for The God Box and David Inside Out, I have not personally read them, but I put them on the original list because they were recommended by reputable sources as bi characters. If someone can explain to me why they are not, I will remove them.

Additionally, I was under the impression that Openly Straight was gay, not bi?

Rainbowheart Hi Jez, thanks for info! I hadn't read Aristotle and Dante so I wasn't sure, but it sounds like it is indeed bi.

I've read The God Box and David Inside Out and I'm like 99% sure there are no bisexual characters. They are both about young men realizing they are gay. The MCs have girlfriends but are in the process of coming out. In The God Box, there's no indication Paul or Manuel have any sexual attraction to girls. Likewise David as far as I remember. He has sex with his girlfriend because he's trying to prove himself but can't stop thinking about guys when he does it.

The MC in Openly Straight is gay for sure, but the guy he falls in love with is not. He's mostly attracted to girls, but he develops feelings for Rafe. They end up kissing and having sex in the story so I would feel pretty confident saying he's at least somewhat bi, even though he does not definitively label himself.

message 4: by Jez (new)

Jez Thank you for clearing that up! I'll take off The God Box and David Inside Out.

I already had Openly Straight on my to-read list, but now I want to read it even more, knowing there's a bi character.

Does anyone know about Star Cursed or Ash to answer Rainbowheart's question?

message 5: by Rainbowheart (new)

Rainbowheart No prob! Can't help with Ash, but I did read Star Cursed. There are several lesbian characters in this series but I don't remember any bi ones. Unless the person who voted for it is thinking of Maura. She does let Paul take her out for carriage rides, and she flirts with him, but I thought it was pretty much established that she was only doing that to annoy Cate. She was (and seems like still is) in love with Elena.

message 6: by Rainbowheart (new)

Rainbowheart I'm also curious why someone voted for Tides by Betsy Cornwell. I don't remember any bisexual characters. Are they thinking of Dolores? She marries a man but it's pretty strongly implied it's not for love. She's still in love with Maebh when she marries him.

Dani Rainbowheart wrote: "I'm confused about some of these additions. Who are the bi characters in Star Cursed, The God Box, Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe, Ash, and David Inside Out?? As far as I'..."

The main character in Ash falls in love with both the prince and his Huntress, and I suppose you could interpret Dante (and even Aristotle) as being bi because he admitted to liking kissing girls in Chicago. I haven't read the other books, but I hope I helped :)

message 8: by Rainbowheart (new)

Rainbowheart Ah, thanks! I appreciate the insight into those books. :)

message 9: by G. (new)

G. Cribbs My debut, The Packing House, has a bi-curious MC named Joel, with kissing and implied sex with a male character, despite his obvious love toward Amber. I believe TPH fits this list, since Joel questions, but doesn't label his own sexuality. There is a planned book 2 (duology) where this will be explored further.

message 10: by Cat (new)

Cat Benjamin Alire Saenz has confirmed that Ari is gay https://twitter.com/BenjaminAlireSa/s...,
as far as I know he's never confirmed Dante's sexuality so Dante could be gay or bi, but this list is for canon bi characters.

message 11: by Cat (new)

Cat Everything Leads to You - Nina LaCour calls it a lesbian love story here http://diversityinya.tumblr.com/post/...
Ask the Passengers - Astrid calls herself a lesbian in canon
Love Letters to the Dead - no label is used for Natalie and Hannah
Ash - Malinda Lo has said she's fine with readers headcanoning Ash as lesbian or bi, but Ash is not confirmed as either in canon, neither is Kaisa

message 12: by Armando (new)

Armando Solórzano you must put the three books of "The Trials of Apollo", Apolo spends talking about his lover both men and women, and is conquering almost all
