Introducing Little Black Classics: 80 books for Penguin's 80th birthday. Little Black Classics celebrate the huge range and diversity of Penguin Classics, with books from around the world and across many centuries. They take us from a balloon ride over Victorian London to a garden of blossom in Japan, from Tierra del Fuego to 16th-century California and the Russian steppe. Here are stories lyrical and savage; poems epic and intimate; essays satirical and inspirational; and ideas that have shaped the lives of millions.
~ 46 new titles will be released in March 2016 to commemorate the release of the first Penguin Classic in 1946 ~
Please do not add anything else, this is a list for the Penguin Little Black Classics range.

Thank you! :)
So excited about these. Bought a couple earlier, can already see myself owning a large amount of this collection!
Hi all. Can someone confirm for me that these are all only excerpts, not the full book in each case? Thanks.
For most of these, they are collections of short stories/essays or a selection of poems. They all illustrate the brilliance of the writer in question, and details about full/longer editions of works by each author is available at the front of the book. They are gorgeous.
46 new Little Black Classics are to be released in March 2016 "to celebrate the release of the first Penguin Classic in 1946."
Steve wrote: "Why are most of these new entries, rather than a new edition of existing books? The Communist Manifesto is a completely different entry than the original, for example. Unless the original text is m..."The titles may be somewhat misleading. These Little Black Classics are exerpts or small collections of stories, texts or poems, not the full works (in the spirit of the Penguin 60s, published in 1995 for Penguin's 60 birthday, and the Pocket Penguin 70s, published in 2005). These titles should therefore NOT really be linked to any full edition of the classic work from which it comes.
Number 74, THE SUFFRAGETTES (LBC#96) does not belong on this list (yet) as it is not part of the set published in 2015 for Penguin's 80th birthday. There should be a separate list for the 46 promised for 2016.
There are already a few numbers of the new 46 ones that are on the Bookdepository (that you can preorder): http://www.bookdepository.com/search?... (not all of the 46 ones are on there though). Maybe you can already add them :)
They must have changed the date of publishing from this article as I picked up some of the new titles at the weekend :)
Daren wrote: "Hi all. Can someone confirm for me that these are all only excerpts, not the full book in each case? Thanks."In case of novels, excerpts, in case of short stories, one/more short stories each book, and in case of poetry, selection of poems(complete poems)
Is there any way of sorting this list by book number? Or maybe changing the title to reflect the number, or possibly creating a series where the books can be sorted by their number?
Daren wrote: "Hi all. Can someone confirm for me that these are all only excerpts, not the full book in each case? Thanks."from the books i can recognize, they're not really excerpts but are essays/short stories that could be part of an anthology but are evidently published individually. that's why they're so short!
