In the Company of Angels

"A man who was a poet and teacher survives torture in an unnamed South American (?) country. Now living in Denmark, he works with a sensitive therapist; the breakdown, breakthrough, and eventual softening of his psyche are beautifully rendered. He comes to share deep love with a woman who is also a trauma survivor (domestic violence). This is my favourite novel about trauma and healing.
