Catherine Jenkins This is one of my favorite books. I loved the various characters, particularly the main character, and the way the author develops each through convincing and genuine dialogue. I also liked the underlying structure of the novel, creating a likeable and realistic underdog, who manages to come out OK in the end.

Jon L I did like this book a great deal. The chapters are relatively short, each with a mission, and they move you through the book in an interesting and engaging way. I loved the characters, whose personalities and quirks, and they collectively have many of the latter, are developed throughout the novel. However, my favorite aspect of the novel, is the dialogue. Where many novels fall apart, the conversations here between characters is real and genuine. Some of the undercover plans hatched by Nick Lassiter's "associates" (Squelch, Bermolito, and Claggebart) is hysterical. There are many twists and turns in The Slush Pile Brigade, most unexpected, and all worth waiting for. Highly recommend; waiting for the next book.

Frank Pularcheck Slush Pile is action-packed prose, crafted character development and a triple helix of history, science and suspense -- all set in Gotham in early June, the perfect time for car crashes, explosions, Central Park chase scenes and a little bit of unrequited love. Who could ask for anything more?
