Goodreads asked Peter Rendell:

What mystery in your own life could be a plot for a book?

Peter Rendell The mystery is Telepathy. How would I go about proving it exists? But, could that research be the basis for a plot? That seems unlikely as research is painstakingly methodical, clinical, sterile, global and inefficient; all elements that would be the basis of a boring novel. The SF/Fantasy community has speculated on Telepathy for many years. Telepathy is the communication between persons by mental processes such as thoughts. Some extend this principle to include emotions, taste and smell. The communication is instantaneous and global. The phenomenon is not electro-magnetic and so the first problem is to define how it will be detected. Hardly the basis for a novel.
