Goodreads asked Lizzie Eldridge:

What mystery in your own life could be a plot for a book?

Lizzie Eldridge For me, mysteries are unanswered questions and life is abundant with these. Literature is one way to explore and probe the mysteries of life - not necessarily to provide answers but to use the imagination to examine them more deeply.
Duende is a concept which has haunted me since I first came into contact with the word. In my novel of the same name, I found characters and, through the writing, a story in which the notion of duende is somehow evident at every level of the book. The writing of this story was a journey which took me to so many unknown places, with so many unexplained 'coincidences' along the way.
The mystery of duende - and the mysteries which emerged through the writing of a story set in a place and time beyond my own experience - could easily provide the plot for another book: all the strange things that happened along the way which even now, after several years, I still cannot explain.
