Who is my birthfamily? That has been a question that started when I was a young child and has taken most of 40 years of adult life to figure it out. I still don't know my paternal side. There were two likely possibilities. At least today there are many more ways to find out. And I've been so delighted to meet the relatives I have found. Still there are so many questions.

Hi Elizabeth, I stumbled across your mention of a book your grandmother used to have about a duck decoy with a heart anchor on a string. I know it's been a couple of years since you posted that, but if you are still wondering, the book is called 'Danny Decoy' and is by John Held (1948). (obligatory question mark for posting)?
