Do you meet a lot of adopted children through your pediatric work ?

It seems there are many children in foster homes, and so I see many of them. That is more difficult for children than being adopted it seems. And the reasons can be more complex including abuse or neglect. It's great to see when children are resilient to the disruptions of their lives. For some reason, I'm not seeing a large number of adopted children.
In my own family, my daughter has biological children and one adopted, in an open adoption. Her birth family shares time with her, and in fact she is with her birth mother right now. Her birth mother is from Ethiopia, and her birth father from South Sudan. We are really happy she has these connections to make her life more whole.

Hi Elizabeth, I stumbled across your mention of a book your grandmother used to have about a duck decoy with a heart anchor on a string. I know it's been a couple of years since you posted that, but if you are still wondering, the book is called 'Danny Decoy' and is by John Held (1948). (obligatory question mark for posting)?
